Spt 2nd # 7 MS MEDIA--At first look you may pass this one; 1 for 29 in career. But this horse clearly runs best at Spt. Her lone win was there and she also has 2 2nds in 8 starts there. This filly was horrible last year but in her first race this year ran 2nd at 73-1. She came back with another 2nd last time at 9-1 with an improving Beyer. The likely favorite is Ms Prenup; both horses have a recent common opponent: Indian Hula. Ms Media finished 2 in front of Indian Hula March 24 while Ms Prenup was 2.5 behind her on March 26.
Spt 7th # 9 RISEN MISS--Trying to beat the heavy chalk Extended View. EV must get the lead and on paper there appears to be several horses who could make things difficult for her. Risen Miss is the best in-form closer in the race.
ILLINOIS DERBY--Repent is going to be 1 to 2 so I'm going to try to beat him. I wasn't impressed by his last race anyways. Fonz's supposedly hated the track at SA; this horse was 2nd behind Siphonic and ahead of Officer in the Hol Futurity in December. He was 5th beaten 5 by Came Home in the San Rafael. The sleeper in here could be One Tuff Fox, who ran a 100 Beyer at the FG. Repent could very easily win but at the odds isn't worth the risk of him not handling the turns and the outside post.
Oaklawn 11th-- MISS LINDA (#4)- Think she can wire this bunch. Will have to beat Azeri.
SA Derby--I'm going to take a shot with USS Tinosa although I may use Easy Grades in some gimmicks. Like Repent, Came Home figures to be tough but overbet. I'm still not convinced Came Home can get 9 furlongs. He won easily in his last but it was a soft pace and he sprinted the final quarter mile.
