Weekly Sunday Update
-------------------------------------------
For anyone new here or for those who have forgotten I like to recap once a week or so how I calculate the MJQ......better known as the Mad Jack Quotient.
What I actually do is to assign each posted play a simple value of one unit and then at the end of the night I add up how successful your card was based on that. I DO NOT include parlays, win or lose, at all since Baseball parlays all win different amounts based on which teams (dogs/favs) are chosen.
Example 1:
Boston(-225) for 10 units.............Win
San Diego(+150) for 5 units...........Win
Detroit(+120) for 3 units.............Win
This example would equate to an MJQ of +3.70. The Boston win is worth +1.00, the SD win is worth +1.50 and the Detroit win is worth +1.20. Note that I throw out the 10 units, the 5 units, and the 3 units and just assign each play a value of 1 unit.
Example 2:
Yankees(-225) for 20 units...............Loss
Colorado(-145) for 10 units..............Win
Los Angeles(-190) for 4 units............Win
Seattle(-135) for 2 units................Win
Parlay Mets/Tribe...5 units pays 8 units.....Win
The first thing I do is toss out the parlay and then assign each of the other plays a value of one unit. The Yankees loss nets a value of -2.25, Colorado win nets +1.00, LA's win nets +1.00, and Seattle's win nets +1.00. So in total this card would equate to an MJQ of +.75.
After I have graded everyone's card, I list those with an MJQ of +2.00 or better on the Daily Leader Board.
It is not a perfect system, but I feel it gives recognition to those who are hot and those who are consistent. What it won't recognize are those who are 0-3 on the early games and then post a "50 Unit Special" on one late game trying to catch up, even if that play wins. Like I said, this MJQ system will give recognition to the hot cappers and to the consistent cappers.
I hope it is of some value to all you gals and guys.
