i don't remember being less excited for a bowl season. just a ton of mediocre matchups this year. that said, i'll probably still play every effing one of them.
starting with the new mexico bowl....
temple (-7) 2 units. i've come full circle on this play. my first instinct was to take the points. but the more i looked at it, the more i realized temple is the play. i'll start with the obvious, which is that wyoming can't stop the run and temple has a very solid running game. but how many times have we seen that situation in a bowl game, and then the running team comes out throwing the ball all over the place? so that alone is not enough. here's what really swayed me - wyoming is 4th in the country in turnover margin. that's how a mediocre team goes from 3-9 to 8-4. if they don't win the TO battle, they won't win the game. and temple does not turn the ball over. only LSU and wisconsin turned the ball over fewer times than temple this year. i expect wyoming to struggle without getting TOs and (hopefully) temple will establish that running game and pull away for a solid win.
