playing this one overnight. feel like the number will climb a little.

2 units....akron (-2) over central michigan

zips have had a weird season. some nice win streaks followed by some strings of losses. but theyre back on a nice winning streak, and theyre playing great basketball at home. one game its been tarver leading the way. the next its hollingsworth. last game against toledo- the zips got balanced contributions from 4 or 5 guys. akron is playing good basketball again, and theres no reason to think it wont continue. theyve won 7 of their last 8 at the JAR. maybe st.vincent-st.mary isnt the best team to play in akrons arena this year, lol. zips are finally putting it all together.

2 units.....rutgers (pk) over boston college

cant believe im goin against bc two games in a row. bc has played really well lately. but if theres one thing you can count on from the eagles- its to lay an egg when you expect a good performance. rutgers has only one conference win, but i still dont think thats a bad team. theres a lot of other cellar dwellars in other major conferences that are far worse than rutgers. even though the rac hasnt provided the normal home court edge for the knights- they still played really well vs syracuse a week and a half ago, and theyve had some time off to get ready for this game on saturday. just dont see bc getting this road win.

2 units.....tulsa (-9.5) over rice

tulsa has really played below expectations this year. theyve put themselves in a position where they might need to win their conference tourney to get into the ncaas. but if you look at their schedule- its conceivable that they could win out and be an at-large bubble team. as far as conference play goes, all their tough games are at home now, and their bracket buster game vs gonzaga in a few weeks will be important for their resume. tulsa is on an ATS drought as well, not covering for a string of games. i think the number is fair here. this team has had some real puzzling losses, so maybe layin chalk here isnt the best idea, however theyve been off for a full week now to prepare for this one. im expecting this veteran, senior-led team to be well prepared and get a convincing win.

hit the first two. akron pending.

also played:

2 units....loyola marymount (+11) over gonzaga

gonzaga reminds me of kent state in this spot tonight. kent put together some wins last week that basically distanced themselves from the conference pack, thus not having a whole lot to play for until conference tourney time. flashes could "afford" a loss, even though a slip up was supposed to be unlikely. same thing goes for gonzaga. theyve been a buzzsaw lately and now are out in front of the wcc race. not a whole lot thats gonna insprie them, especially a "doormat" like lmu. but loyola has hung tough in some games this year. i expect gonzaga to be a good ATS go-against in the next few weeks. theyre basically just on cruise control right now. zags would be very content with a 6 or 7 point win tonight.
