NHL Season: 38-49 (-6.46 units)

Plenty of games tonight, so here we go.

1) NY Islanders pk (+115)

I don't know if I can add anything more than what Tiger has already said about this game. So if you want to see why I am playing this, see his comments. Basically, the Caps are in a historically terrible situation tonight and the Islanders are a good road team that still has something to play for.

Back in a bit.

2) Atlanta +1.5 (+170)

Detroit has covered a 1.5 goal spread three times in their last 10 games. Those three games were against St Louis, NYR, and Colorado - all on the road. They have failed to cover that spread against the likes of Anaheim, Columbus, and Nashville (twice). Detroit will be without Hasek, Lidstrom, Duchesne, and Yzerman. This game means NOTHING to the Red Wings, and they have said so. In a game where the Red Wings #1 goal is to stay healthy and Atlanta has guys playing for jobs next year, I see some great value with Atlanta tonight.

3) Dallas/Edmonton under 5 (-140)

This will be a playoff atmosphere tonight at Skyreach. Both teams have been playing solid defense, especially Edmonton. The Oilers have held their opponents to one goal or less in 6 of 7, and they gave up just 2 goals in the one other game. Lehtinen will not play for Dallas, which hurts their offense. Turco gets the start and he is a capable backup; as a matter of fact, in watching tons of Stars games this season, I think he has actually been better than Belfour this season. Both teams know each other well and they know what the other tries to do offensively. I know it is high vigorish, but I honestly believe that the first one to 2 goals in this one wins it.

4) Anaheim/Vancouver under 5 (+110)

I have no clue why the under is plus money but I won't complain. Anaheim is 8-22 o/u on the road this season. In their last 5, they have scored 1.80 GPG on offense and given up 2.20 GPG. Vancouver is playing very well right now and it shows in their defensive numbers. Vancouver has given up 1.80 GPG in their last 5. Columbus jumped out to a 3-1 lead on them and they know that they can hardly afford to let the defensive minded Ducks get a lead in this one. Shields and Cloutier are expected in net.

5) Vancouver -0.5 (-155)

I really like this play in and of itself, but it also acts as a nice hedge against my under play in my opinion. The only way I see this game going over is if Vancouver puts up a 4 or 5 spot on their own. They are playing great hockey, Cassels is back in the lineup for them, and Anaheim is playing their 3rd in 4 nights.

May be back later, GL.

Ain't this some shit! I bust my ass looking at all the games today, make 5 plays, and end up going 2-2-1 for +0.00! Knew I should have been lazier today.
