3-2 playoffs
Here's my thoughts and my play on the over/under in Philly/Colorado game:
I think the cold weather maybe what's keeping this at 9 at plus money and why as I type this money seems to flowing in on the under, but just seems to me that there are way too many negatives for the pitchers in this one and from past history the last couple seasons, this one could get over the total of 9
The weather today is only supposed to be in the 50's at Coors field today, but that's what it was early in this season when these 2 teams met there and all 3 games went OVER: 13 runs, 12 runs, 12 runs. The same held true for the 2008 season as both games played at Coors between these 2 teams went OVER : 14 runs, 14 runs.
Coors Field has an effect on lots of pitchers and Rockies starter Jason Hammel is no different: His 2009 stats are like night and day
Jason Hammel at home at Coors: 81.2 Innings pitched, 114 hits allowed, 12 homeruns, 5.73 ERA, and and a whopping .330 batting average against.
Jason Hammel away: 95 IP, 89 hits, 5 HR, 3.13 ERA, .250 batting average against.
It's a night game and Hammel also has an ERA of over a full run higher in his night starts vs his day starts.
Hammel also struggles a bit when runners get on base....this season he's allowing a .305 average when runners are on base.
Phillies starter, Pedro Martinez also has had some problems at Coors Field in his career with an unMartinez like 4.97 career ERA at Coors and what stands out this season in Pedro's 9 starts is how bad he was on the road:
Pedro Martinez in 4 road starts this season has allowed batters to hit for a .322 average and in those 4 road starts he has an ERA of 5.66 which is a big difference when you look at his 5 home starts where he had 1.88 ERA and .225 batting average against. Also consider the fact that the Rockies are a lot better hitting team at home and vs righties this season.
In the 9 starts Martinez made this year, he's only averaging 5 innings per start and that means you're going to be asking the Phillies pen to come through...not sure that's gonna happen considering some of their problems, but more than that...it's at Coors Field.
Just a lot of negatives for the pitching in this game so went with the over this game
OVER 9 +104 PHILLY-COLORADO
Good luck to all today :0corn
