UTA -8,5 over Texas St ***
Was defiantly a strong play but now Mavs 2nd leading scorer Jones is out....he is their 1-2 gd....big strong kid that can shoot and handle the ball..also rebound...but mavs have the best pt gd in the Sun conf in Neal...and the best player in the conf in Hervey at 6'9 who can actually play the point...inside they have Bilboa who is a real post player..his back up Pope is also solid...Charles is the 2 gd who can shoot if open...Wilson will play more today due to Jones being out...Hawkins has scored 6 pts in his last 2 games....this is a talented team with a true stud in Hervey...Tx St is really amazing...their offense goes thru Tillsbury....he can shoot and drive...not an inside player at all and never posts ups..but slashes to the basket and is active on the off bds...Pearson is the most improved player on the team...has really stepped up on offense in the 2nd half...Black,Conley,etc are weak off players..inside they have no attack at all...King avg 6 pts and 6 bds and is in foul trouble a lot...they are not a good shooting 3 pt team...so how can they be in the semi's with this offense and win 17-18 games..they did get a break playong UL Monroe who won 2 games all year in the conf...but they beat UTA at home...defense..Kasper has done a masterful job coaching....these guys play man/man in your face defense...their help side defense is what impresses me more then anything...someone penetrates the gds on top and there 4 other guys in the paint..everyone collapses....almost looks like a zone defense for a second.Although Bobcats did beat Mavs at home Mavs recently won at home 76-61..but Bobcats scored 81 points at home vs UTA....UTA is the better team and has more talent..but that as we all know doesn't mean that much sometimes..think Neal is such a good pt gd he negates some of the Bobcats strengths on defense today....stopping Hervey is so hard...think UTA attacks inside-out..Bilboa could have a big game...Hervey scores from every position and if Bobcats drop everyone inside Charles should be open...missing Jones hurts..but not enough for UTA to still get a double digit win...
VCU -6.5 over Richmond **
Smoo -8.5 over UCF **
Not a strong play because Pirates almost beat them...but Stangs got their scare...but they had a tough time the 1st time playing UCF..very few teams have challenged Smoo all season...UCF did...
Princeton -7.5 over Penn ***
Perfect Ivy season...no way they trip and fall today...
MTenn -9 over Marshall **
MT is one talented team that no one should want in the 1st round...Herd defense should have tough time defending..
Northwestern +4.5 Wisky **
Every broadcaster on CBS,ESPN,Fox graduated from Northwestern...they have to win...
