Relief. I really wanted that Yankees hit. Wouldn't have destroyed me, to miss it, but I wanted to go into this weekend with a full head of steam and that baby assured me of a plus on the day. Also had Rutgers on a couple of teasers, at -10, so that came in too, plus I hit the Stampeders to bag the CFL's first game of the week. Dodgers win woulda almost doubled my baseball plus on the day so my blood IS boiling a little?was the last game of the night for me, and I always like to hit those. Whatevas?I've turned a scary looking September into one with great promise by turning a plus over the past 4 days.

Reds, Twins and Indians are system picks for Saturday. Padres appear to have some value, too, though I'm not crazy about going against the Rockies after they put up 10 on Friday. Indians offense has been quiet so far in this series but I think that Ervin might be a cure for that?Escobar has poor numbers vs the Indians; Sabathia has been a true model of consistency lately?really most of the season?he is especially hot lately?not tossing shutouts but limited opponents to no more than 2 runs game in and game out. Giants and Pirates also appear to have some value; Zito has totally turned around his crappy season by tossing 4 straight Beauties?that's capital "B" "Beauties"; Pirates look possible as Carlos has almost become fade material with the shitty work he's done over his past 5 flippin' starts?guy is a real tool, aye?...regardless, Pirates might be worth a shot but I've got a lot of my money spoken for already this Saturday so I dunno about fading the once mighty Z. Reds the edge pitching and at the plate, as the Brewers are nothing vs righties compared to how they hit lefties. Twins the same; Garza has great potential, I'd say, from what I've seen this year, but ump Bucknor may give him headaches for this one with his miniscule (relatively) strike-zone.

Speaking of totals?remember yesterday how I didn't want to include 2 of the system totals that I posted as I totally disagreed with them?...well, both of them missed but the other 4?the ones I played?all came in; I think that this is just further proof that my success this year is not entirely due to this system I've concocted but has also relied heavily on my own wisdom. As for today's totals, I like the Dodgers-Giants under but nothing else impresses me, so far; an appropriate umpire just makes the play seem better (I gave no bonus?the 72 is a flat call).

Will post plays. Will be conservative, for Saturday, as I've got action happening all over the damn place. Some unexpected expenses have just come up so I sure could use another withdrawel from my accounts. The picks will have to look very strong to me, today, as I'm already in quite deep on the NCAA and, well?not yet on the NFL...going to TRY to take it easy for week 1. For MLB, I'm only on the Twins, so far?about to add the Reds and the Indians but anything else, like I said, will have to look real solid to me or I'll pass.

Crap this was a bitch to edit?a couple of key last minute changes were what did it. Just to show you how imperfect I truly am, I didn't even know that Vladdy sat out Thursday's game (learned that sometime this evening); I've adjusted the Indians line a couple of points due to his questionable status?one of a few key players in MLB that will actually move a call a few percentage points if he's sitting.

I've Rambled On long enough (I've been this way ten years to the day).

Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man
It surely means that I don't know.

On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about I'm like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune
But I hear the voices say...

Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more.

just in case there lies a gem within...

possible team totals
(w/relative system number; + for overs, etc)

astros un4 -110 (-8)Astros do their better work vs lefties so I can't touch this

dodgers un4.5 -135 (-11)same holds for the Dodgers; Zito DOES seem the hotter pitcher than Glavine, though, and Lad vs L is only about 30 points higher than vs R while Astros is about a 70-point improvement when facing L; still passing here as the moneyline would make more sense and I haven't tried that (yet)

Reds ov5 -105 (+11)Suppan isn't much of an improvement over Bush so this one seems possible; ump Froemming is even, or a slight under-lean if anything, so the moneyline, though more expensive, might be smarter

Cws un4.5 -110 (-13)this one would maybe interest me but I'm already on the cheaper moneyline and Garza wasn't very sharp in his last go; just refreshed my memory of who the ump will be--C.B.Bucknor is about as true an OVER-ump as they come, so no unders for me with him going

bosox ov6 +115 (+12)Bosox might have a good time facing Leicester, from what I can figure out about the guy; runline isn't much more expensive and might be a better play; Bosox 7-day OPS perpetually over .800 (currently at .918!)

Tigers ov5.5 -115 (+10)Weaver has crappy numbers vs the Tigers and I've been kinda expecting the Tigers to break out of their scoring slump...they've been HITTING, just not SCORING lately...bagged a 6 yesterday and that seems likely again today; I'd like the game total over but a 10.5?...not for me, though Robertson has poor numbers vs the M's and they, once, were a force to be reckoned with facing lefties; this game is a bitch and I'm thinking that I'll either try this team total or take a pass...let me check the ump...hmmm...Gerry Davis is a bit of an OVER-ump, so maybe game total and team total to consider further (Ramble On...now's the time, the time is now)

over-ump Schrieber is going at Kauffman so I'm foregoing the temptation to play Pettitte-Bannister under.

jays ov5.5 +100 (+7)Hammel appears to be total garbage unless he's facing the most potent team in MLB vs righties?!?! (Yanks); Jays 7-day OPS a whopping .885...I, as a big fan, have been pretty amazed by their offensive output lately...they'd been doing that all season and they'd be way in the wild-card hunt (currently 6.5 back, I believe); especially against righties is where the Jays have had trouble this season, but not lately, it seems; ump check...Kulpa looks pretty even; this is a bitch of a call due to Hammel's last game, but I need to have a piece of the Jays somehow on Saturday...runline is comparable in price so I might take a stab there--Burnett has been fantastic in 5 straight starts since coming off the DL
--have D'Rays at -6

Rangers ov5 +100 (+8)another one that looks good; Gaudin is 1-4 with a 5.40 era against the Rangers including 1-2, 4.94 in '07; Rangers 7-day OPS up there at .840; another worth checking the ump for...Hernandez is even...no effect; I'm not really crazy about playing the Rangers as the line presents no value, against my call anyways, Gabbard hasn't been sharp lately, and the A's do their best work vs lefties; will consider both the game total and this team total

indians ov4.5 +105 (+7)this is a gift...I think maybe I've found that gem I was looking for; Santana is 0-4 with a 9.19 era in 4 vs the Indians including 0-2 with a 7.15 era in two '07 meetings; chit...4.5?...this ain't McAfee or Safeco they're playing at...what am I missing?...Ervin was great in his last, and actually in 2 of his 4 since coming off the DL, but in the other two he was rocked hard; this one WILL be in play for me, I just need to decide how much I really (REALLY) like it...will try the moneyline, too, but wanted to complete this first (taking flippin' forever)
--have Angels at -7...lower, actually, if Vladdy sits again

My goodness...I'm done.
I'm off to tackle the man.

heads up for Sunday,

these look like they have value:

brewers
cubs
Phillies
padres
mariners
Devil Rays:com:
twins:com: :com:
Angels

Brewers look most likely. Hoppy.

Also looking at these totals:

hou@Mets un8.5 76% (-115)+22 --
mil@Cin ov10 72 (-120)+17 --
fla@Phil ov10.5 69 (-115)+15 --
lad@Sf un7.5 68 (+100)+18 --
seat@Det un9.5 70 (-115)+16 --
oak@Tex ov9.5 65 (+105)+16 --

As you can see, I haven't checked umpires yet.
Need to do that before making any plays.

Crap I hope the Jays can hold out for the W.
I pumped up my bet with some NCAA winnings (phew on Virginia Tech -24! (won by 25)).
Sure could use the Indians, too, if they ever start that one. Looks real good. No Vladdy.

No action on the forum, today.
You people must all have lives, or something.

Freakin' burn city for me today. Holding my own in the NCAA (will break even or make a couple bucks) but MLB is fork-city for me today.

Multiple-run lead burns by the Twins, Reds, and #@$^!#$%!#$blue jays all cost me bad.
Freakin' Jays game was a joke...couldn't have had a much better start from Burnett.

If the Indians blow their lead late, tonight, then I think I stick with what I've already got for tomorrow and leave it at that, which is the Brewers.

Crap...what a joke of a day, for me.
Hope tomorrow treats me better.

Thank-Hendrix for
