Boston College -2.5 over UWM: I hate to go against gman but I have to on this one. These are two good teams who play solid defense. I give the edge to BC on the inside and this is where the game will be decided. After watching both teams play at the Convo on Thursday I'm convinced that the Panthers will get worn down by the inside presence of Smith and Williams. Alabama's inside guys were long and lean but BC's are bulky. I was also impressed with Williams ability to maneuver in the low post. This game will demonstrate the physical differences between the Horizon League and the Big East. As long as BC's guards are able to handle the ball and get into their half court offense, BC should cover the small chalk.

Nevada +11.5 over Illinois: You may want to wait on this one as it might get to 12. I like Illinois but I don't they can cover this big of a number against a team as solid defensively as Nevada. The only way they cover is to have great shooting from the perimeter because Fazekas should have a good game coming off a poor performance and going against a smaller Illini front line.

NIT Picks

Buffalo +6.5 over St. Joseph's: I hate the Bulls after their meltdown in the MAC championship but they are still a talented team. There is no way St. Joe's is 6.5 points better than Buffalo even playing at home. This one should be close to the end.

Davidson +8 over SWMS: I think Davidson has a little more motivation going for them. The have enough size to hold their own on the boards and play pretty well on the road. I had this lined at 4 so I'll take the 8 points.

best of luck falcon! can certainly respect the logic of those playing boston college. not playing uwm for as much as i did in the 1st round, as i think cincy is a better play later on. only part i really dont agree on (and am surprised we dont) is the physicality of the horizon league. obviously bc has more inside and the big east is a physical conference. but im really a believer than the horizon is one of the more physical midmajor conferences. i think its a more physical conference than the mac and better defense (as a whole) is played in the horizon. we'll see. talk to you later bud.

Sunday Picks

Sunday Picks

Wisconsin/Bucknell over 114: Based on my calculations of average number of shots per minute, adjusted FG pct., and pct of FGs that are 3s, I have this total at 123. There should be 44 FGs made and 15 of these will be threes. That is 103 points. As long as there are over 11 free throws made, the over is good.

Sparty -8 over Vermont: I agree with gman here (thank goodness!). Vermont does not have the depth to hang with Sparty the whole game. All five starters for Vermont played at least 40 minutes on Friday. Davis should be able to slow down Coppenrath and MSU guard play will cause Sorrentine problems. Vermont was helped by Syracuse turning the ball over 24 times. Sparty takes care of the ball much better than that. Look for Michigan St. to take care of business today and easily cover the 8 points.

Keeping an eye on the Iowa St. line. I'm hoping the public drives this line up to 17. If it does, I'll take the points.

I found this one:
Louisville/GTech under 14.5 3's -107

GTech has had an average of 12 3's in their games and Louisville has had an average of 15.
