if anyone's going to the albany devils game tonight, you can watch me and 4 friends making asses of ourselves playing broomball between periods. should be entertaining, if nothing else.

kansas (+10.5) 3 units. starting out with a bad jayhawk team led by a bad coach. but looking at k st's schedule, i think only one team will be fired up for this rivalry game. here's the stretch k st just played - at miami, baylor, missouri, texas tech. here's their next 4 games - oklahoma, ok st, texas a&m, texas. wow. talk about a sandwich game against a team they beat by 52 last year.

purdue (+3.5) 3 units. another sandwich game. mmmm... sandwiches. illinois, after that great start, had to be pretty confident going into their game against ohio st. what a rude awakening that was. they were just manhandled. their next 3 games are against penn st, michigan, and wisconsin. they just might be overlooking a team that has only beaten midd tenn st, southeast missouri st, and minnesota this year. and who they beat by 34 points last year.

duke (moneyline) 1/1.5 units. wake hasn't covered as a road favorite since the truman administration. ok, i just made that up. but it might be true.

nc st (+5) 2 units. virginia is coming off a big win over georgia tech and they play this thursday night against miami. no way they're not flat today.

lsu (-21) 1 unit. as a rule, i hate going against backup qbs making their first start. teams tend to rally around the new guy. but i don't see any let-up from this lsu defense. you simply can't run on these guys. and with no running game, it'll be open season on the new qb. i expect the tigers to wear down the tigers and pull away late.

ull/wku under (44.5) 2 units. don't look now, but the hilltoppers are on a roll. they're establishing a solid ground game with bobby rainey, and suddenly this game is for first place in the sun belt. well, not quite, as ak st is still undefeated. but the hilltoppers would be 3-1 in conference. this is a pretty big game for these teams. i expect the defenses to step up.

northwestern (+4) 1 unit. in psu's two road games this year, they scored 14 at temple and 16 at indiana. northwestern has only turned the ball over 6 times in 6 games. if they don't give psu a short field, they should keep this close.

notre dame (-9.5) 1 unit. this is a crazy line, right? even 7 would seem a little high for this game. so naturally i gotta lay the points.

not sure what to do with the wisconsin/michigan st game. seems almost too easy to take the points, doesn't it? michigan state's defense has been great and this is wisconsin's first road game this year. here's russell wilson's splits home/away the last two years:

2010
home 63% 18 tds 7 INTs
away 53% 10 tds 7 INTs

2009
home 61% 22 tds 5 INTs
away 56% 9 tds 6 INTs

if michigan state can continue to shut down the run, and make wilson beat them.... no reason they can't get another big win. but...

michigan st is already coming off two big wins, over ohio st and michigan. can that defense do it a 3rd week in a row? that's asking a lot of college kids.

leaning michigan st, but no play yet.
