Northwestern (+10.5) 2 units.
Northwestern (ML) 1 unit to win 3.4. sure, the wildcats have been pretty bad so far this year. but as anyone familiar with unions knows... their contract said they were on break for the first 3 games. well, break's over. time to get to work. psu barely beat UCF, struggled to put away akron (akron!), and barely beat rutgers. last week they caught a deflated umass team. oh, and let's look ahead... their next 2 games are at michigan and against ohio state. this is a perfect setup for the wildcats to keep this close and it's worth a shot on the ML.
Tulane (+13) 2 units. big look-ahead game for rutgers. their next 4 games are against Michigan, ohio st, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.
Tulane/Rutgers over (53.5) 2 units. combined with the look-ahead factor, the rutgers defense is coming off a game against navy. they are just really happy that they won't spend 3 hours today with offensive linemen chopping at their knees. they'll be too busy smiling to tackle anyone.
Colorado st (+8.5) 2 units.
Colorado st. (ML) 2 units to win 5.4. I like the rams to get revenge for the 2003 san francisco bowl. you know that one still stings. ok, bc is going to be able to run the ball on the rams' defense. no doubt. but I think the rams will be able to keep up with grayson having a big day. remember, this is the same bc team that lost at home to pitt a few weeks ago. strong lean to the over here, too.
Indiana (-4) 2 units. now, I don't think Maryland is going to overlook the hoosiers, but the terps do play ohio st next week. they've only played one team so far with a decent offense, and they gave up 40 to wvu. I think Indiana's going to win a shootout here. let's call it.... 56-45.
so, yeah, Maryland/Indiana over (70) 2 units.
bowling green (-5.5) 2 units. if there's one thing I love playing, it's a popular road fav. ugh. but I'm drawing on my experience of having played on a bad football team that was on the verge of a huge win, only to have it taken from you. that shit can kill an entire season. after umass blew that game at vandy, I knew I was going to play against them until they covered a game. I don't love bg quite as much as I loved psu last week, but I think the falcons roll here.
FAU (+5.5) 3 units.
FAU (ML) 2 units to win 4.4. I'm going to continue to ride the owls. after taking their whuppin' against Alabama and Nebraska, they've played a lot better against teams their own size. only concern for me is how they react to the tough loss at Wyoming.
ohio st (-17.5) 3 units. during halftime of the mtsu/odu game last night, I caught a segment called something like "teams that should beware tomorrow". whichever talking head it was said ohio st, south Carolina, or USC will lose "beyond a shadow of a doubt." so, yeah, I'm hammering ohio st. gunner kiel has been very impressive to begin his college career. but that was at home against 2 mac defenses. he's stepping up into the big leagues today. I expect ohio st to dominate this game. strong lean to the under, too.
UNC (+15.5) 2 units. thinking about throwing a buck on the ML. I think last week's losses will have a much greater impact on Clemson than on UNC. I look for that solid Clemson defensive line to get tired from chasing Williams around all day. at the very least, UNC can slip in the back door late. best case, it'll be a close game and UNC has a shot to win.
south Carolina (-5.5) 2 units. see above comment about ohio st. I'm seeing WAY too many people on mizzou. so, dammit, I gotta play the 'cocks.
Memphis (+21) 2 units. how 'bout the resurgent Memphis tigers? this is one of those local rivalries that most people don't know about. the 2 schools are only about 70 miles apart. they haven't played since '09. something tells me the tigers will be more pumped up for the renewal of the rivalry than the rebels will be. oh, look who ole miss plays next week... the Alabama crimson tide. if you like the ol' "double digit rushing dog" angle (I usually don't until a little later in the season), this is a great spot. Memphis averages over a yard/carry more than ole miss and they allow over a yard/carry less than ole miss. man, this is another huge dog that's tempting me to take a shot on the ML.
duke (-6.5) 2 units. wow, this line is BEGGING for duke money. the whole world is on duke, as well they should be. I can offer no logical explanation for how Miami is going to win by a td or more, but it's clearly going to happen. maybe duke johnson will run for 300 yards against duke.
usc (-8.5) 1 unit. see ohio st comments. after hearing that, I knew I had to play ohio st, south Carolina (the other usc) and usc.
