Boston Bruins: Press Releases
Bruins Trade Nazarov to Phoenix for Fifth Round Pick
BOSTON (January 25, 2002) - The Boston Bruins have traded left wing Andrei Nazarov to Phoenix in exchange for the Coyotes' fifth round pick in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, it was announced today by Bruins General Manager Mike O'Connell.

"Phoenix had been inquiring about Andrei for some time and it seemed like a good move for both Andrei and the Bruins," said O'Connell. "We were able to acquire an asset that will help us in the future."

Nazarov, 27, is in his ninth professional season, his second with the Bruins. He was acquired by Boston from Anaheim with Patrick Traverse for Samuel Pahlsson on November 18, 2000 and played 110 Bruins games with one goal and six assists for seven points and 345 penalty minutes in those games. He had two assists with 145 penalty minutes in 47 games with Boston this season.

The 6'5", 230-lb. native of Chelyabinsk, Russia was originally drafted by San Jose as their second pick, tenth overall, in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. In 447 career NHL games with San Jose, Tampa Bay, Calgary, Anaheim and Boston, he has 43 goals and 66 assists for 109 points with 1.073 penalty minutes.
