Am in process of transferring account (SEP)to another broker --From ameriprise to TD ameritrade

Can't buy-sell or implement stop loss/limits.
---and don't know for how long account will be in limbo--only bout 40% in stocks but still gives me helpless feeling.

the markets can be very volatile, up or down 5-10% if not more, can happen easily.

however this is the best time to transfer, it is the summer and volume is lower than normal, far better now than in the fall. traders are more interested in vacation plans, well a few.

I've been putting it off--and thought as good now as ever.

They get the mail strike up there settled yet?

yes DTB they settled the strike on Monday. Well the government sent them back to work on Monday.

they got 1.7% actually Canada Post offered 1.9%, so they got less if they were not sent back.. Harper is not going to let any strike last to long.

Air Canada was about to be sent back but both parties settled.

Canada Post was not about wages, and it is profitable, though mail is declining, in this electronic age, pensions were the main sticking point.

pensions were an employee is guaranteed a certain amount is going away...it will be more important how everyones pension is invested.
