Schilling is a bout of
strep throat.

Schilling, who is
scheduled to pitch
tonight when the
Diamondbacks open
a three-game series
against Houston at
Bank One Ballpark,
has felt ill since
Saturday and spent most of Sunday morning in the trainer's room during
batting practice and didn't watch most of Sunday's game from his
customary position near the top step of the dugout.

After Sunday's 6-3 loss at Los Angeles, manager Bob Brenly said Schilling
was feeling better, thanks to antibiotics and fluids. Brenly declined to name
an emergency starter if Schilling is unable to pitch.

Schilling was 1-1 against the Astros last season and is 8-7 lifetime with a
3.66 ERA in 19 games.

and don't forget that poor record (by Schilling standards) he has vs Houston these last three seasons.

Good info here. I have to believe the over is very hittable at 7.5. With the heat and strep would Brenly push the envelope w/a high pitch count? Schilling normally has exceptional command; it'll be interesting to see his pitch placement tonight.

yup, Schilling's last four starts have gone over, and 3 of Johnson's last four.

Redding has been very good of late, but on the road against teams that can hit should be a different story.
