Schmidt left in to hit for himself?

Anyone else surprised by that? I know he's only pitched four innings but his pitch count is up and he's getting absolutely hammered by the Rocks. He now has to face the 2, 3, and 4 hitters and I'm guessing he'll only pitch one more inning anyway. Call me crazy but I'd rather bring in a pinch hitter with the chance to tie the game and then bring in someone fresh from the bullpen rather than leave Schmidt in. Thoughts?

still early , nothing wrong with that

I agree that it's still early in the game but based on his pitch count he was probably only going to pitch one more inning anyway. And more than that, the way that he's been getting hit do you even want him in the game to face the 2, 3 and 4 hitters the next inning? This just has the feel of a game that's about to be broken open by the Rocks and Schmidt clearly doesn't have it today.

Yup and now he has pulled a hamstring covering first on a ground out and has been pulled.

Hendrickson's far from great but that's probably the best thing that could happen for the Dodgers. Schmidt had nothing today. I think the Rocks were going to get to him this inning with the heart of the order coming up.
