We are all required to wear a seatbelt when driving or in the passenger seat. Understandibly so...but why is it that KIDS do NOt have to wear a seat belt while riding the school bus? You would think a lawsuit would be involved if the bus is involved in an accident and someone is injured. This has boggled me for yrs but noone has told my why. If I had kids, I would want them belted in to a seat on a bus....but nor does the city bus have seatbelts as well....this does not make sense to me. Why are we as tax paying citizens having to pay fines for not wearing a seatbelt but the public transportation does not even have seatbelts availble for kids or pedestrians riding the city bus?

School bus companies have looked into this for years. One of the issues is what if there is an accident, but then the kids need to be evacuated off of the bus? many of the kids may not be able to undo the belts and you have one adult in charge to try to get all the kids off.
That is a big issue for this. I work with a company that has pitched a solution for this but hasn't got a big bus company to bite on going forward with the development idea.
