SC -19

How does SC look for this upcoming week. Who will be playing who will be out. Do you think SC will mesh on offense? I am very curious.

Thanks in advance

oh and if anybody has any opinions on this game please give em to me

I like USC -19 although that is a lot of pts for such a young team to cover. But if ASU turns the ball over (which I think will happen in large ratio), USC easily will cover.

USC is offensively is hurting at WR and of course at FB losing their top 3 FB's to injury and FB is major weapon in USC offense. Walkon is now starting at FB.

#1 WR Jarret will practice this week, and he played sparingly and in pain last week and had to be taken out of game. Questionable.

#2 WR Smith sprained his ankle against UW and was taken out of game and he probably will play Sat. but won't be 100%.

#3 WR McFoy is out for 3 more weeks.

#4 WR Turner is soph but super talented and had break out game last week which was nice to see.

#5 and #6 WR's are true freshman but super talented. Have not been involved much.

Good news is USC RB Washington is almost 100% healthy (hamstring) and he should have MONSTER game this Sat.

Last weeks score was decieving against a good Washington team who played relatively mistake free. USC had TD called back for holding that was questionable. USC also had 63 yard run called back for block in the back that was questionable. USC safety was called for PF that was questionable. PC sent in complaints to commissioner. On D, USC dropped easy INT chances. USC potentially could have beaten UW by 20+ pts. USC has proven to be a team who isn't penalized much and forces turnovers at high rates. Sat. was very unusual day and major reason the score was so close. That is what you have to do to have a chance to beat USC.

Here is an interesting thing to look for against ASU. For the most part, teams this year have been trying to shorten the game against USC. Nebraska being the #1 example. Teams are trying to stay within striking distance until the 4th quarter and these game plans are working as long as they avoid turnovers.

ASU will NOT run the clock and try and shorten the game. This will play right into USC hands. USC is vulnerable to teams who are BALANCED and is patient in using the short passing game. ASU likes to throw down field and USC D is designed to avoid big plays on offense.

ASU will have 3-4 turnovers, and their QB will be sacked (something USC has not done much of this year).

Right now I predict USC wins 41-17.

The only thing that was questionable in the USc/Washington game was the fact that Washington was screwed out of 4 seconds, and then there was such a delay that Washington was set then not set then set and then not set, and the ref sat the ball down and ran the last 2 seconds off. Disgusting. Not to mention the fact that ESPN last night during the N.Ill game tried to make it sound like Pete Carrol was getting screwed by the rEfs not winding the clock too funny. It really is great to see the levels ESPN will go to get the team they support to #1. Reminds me of the 1997 campaign for Michigan over Nebraska. During one of ESPNs highlight shows they showed NU starting FB scoring in the 1st Q and mentioned that it was the 4th Q and NU was piling it on. Great Work ESPN.

I guess you only watched the last 2 min. because USC was screwed out of 3 huge penalties.

Once the ref puts the ball down, clock is suppose to start. It didn't. That helped Washington. Washington was lame in not being prepared for that situation. They had all the time in the world. The offense needed to already be set and snap right away. They were not prepared. Stanback failed to have the offense ready and they didn't get their last shot at the endzone.

state the obvious, the clock shouldve been stopped at 5 secs, the UW easily spikes and then possibly beats usc on a TD pass :scared ... PC whined like a cheating/loser no scruples baby to wind clock (hell they had already cheated once for you Petey :nono:) ... whoever was in booth plain and simple was asleep or wanted usc to win, and the refs were exposed as incompentents; i mean why did they huddle for so long if it wasnt to discuss the obvious: that the UW was flim flammed outta 3 secs and a possible chance to win ... for the record I teased usc and dont even like the UW

in all fairness to Pt1guard, Scott must have not seen the 2 dropped picks on the final USC drive. Both of those were in their hands, the first of which might have resulted in a TD going the other way.

I dont mind the oversight but it is hard for me to swallow that other posters are calling pt1guard biased in a thread with Scott in it

Scott...ASU is actully more run orientated than years prior...but one dimension will not cut it.

Torain is probably the best back ASU has had since JR Redmond.

I agree with PT1gard...........I watched the game and that ending was horrendous.....Washington receiver was down with 5-6 sec. left on the clock and for some reason the clock kept running. What is even more appalling is that every college game I have watched you see "instant replay" being called for anything that might change the score or nature of the game.........that was the longest time I have ever seen an official to set and run the clock??? What was that all about? Stanbeck had his team ready to kill the clock, but the official seemed to be playing a game by standing there and looking like like he was gonna set it then kept waving Stanbeck back? It was weird.......IMO the appropriate thing to do there was to have replay look and see when the reciever knee was down, which would've given Washington 5-6 seconds of time......would it have made a difference? I don't know, but that ending was a tad bit strange. They should've had another play to run.....IMO

USC dropped potential INT's and so did Washington. But if you factor the entire game, the breaks heavily went AGAINST USC. Washington had 1 bad call against them (end of game) and USC had 3 bad calls. On one of them USC lost 4pts (got TD called back), lost 63 yard run (got called back), and other gave UW 15 free yards (BS personal foul on UW 2nd last drive). All 3 were very questionable and shouldn't have been called. PC challenging all 3 calls. On top of that, USC had that freak INT where Turner caught ball on UW 5 yard line and ball popped out and UW INT. Then UW got onside kick which cost USC 3pts. RISKY for UW to do that but it worked. Props to them.

For the most part, UW played great. Maybe their best football for quite some time. They came to play and almost got the upset.

IF UW got the snap off at the end, they still needed to complete a 15yard pass in endzone. Not likely. UW was having trouble all day in the redzone. It would have been right for UW to get more clock to get the snap off. They still had 2 seconds to do it and they were not ready. UW fault for that, not refs. UW should have been set and ready before ref put ball down. They weren't.

Maybe this makes up for USC getting screwed by the refs twice in BCS NC game against Texas. But I didn't see the outcry for USC after the game. :mj07: You didn't see USC complain like OU.

Why? The NCAA publicly admitted and apologized to USC for 2 blown calls in the BCS NC game against Texas. I didn't see the outcry for USC then and that was for a National Championship. I am not saying that is why USC lost, but that is a FACT USC got screwed twice.

Let me enlighten you.

Bush lateral was illegal and should have been a 5 yard penalty, USC ball in Texas territory. Play never went to review and ref blew the call on field. It was illegal lateral.

2nd call the NCAA apologized for was VY in 1h made a lateral to Texas RB who ran for a TD. VY knee was clearly on ground before lateral but that was not called OR even reviewed.

1st blown call easily cost USC 3-7pts (and huge momentum) and 2nd blown call might have resulted in a Texas field goal. Who knows. I do know USC got screwed by the refs twice and NCAA aknowledged it! No outcry for USC>

NOW YOUR POST LOOKS RETARDED! :142smilie

I don't care who's injured for SC or not, USC will cover with ease!

Koetter is notorious for losing his team after a crushing defeat. I wrote this after the Cal game and whatya know, we get smoked by Oregon the next week. He might be an offensive mastermind but he is the worst coach/leader in division 1A football. Look at his record on the road, record vs ranked teams, record in PAC games in the state of California...... He can never ever get his team up for a bug game when their good let alone when they have to go on the road against arguably the best team in the country. He's known for being a complete asshole to the public (media and fans), just imagine how he treats his team behind closed doors when they play the way they are. It's no surprise that once the team starts going south theres no bringing em back. Thats all I have to say on that subject.

Rudy Carpenter couldn't start for a JUCO. He had 33 yards passing against Oregon last week AT HOME. He had zero, ZERO, passing 1st downs and he played the entire game. He is an absolute headcase with no heart whatsover.

Our best OL is out for the year, Carnahan. Our line is in shambles now.

The only bright spot is RB Torain. He's awesome but he can run for 200+ yds and USC would still cover. He ran for 170 against Cal and they won by 25+.

Our defense looks like the same old ASU D of the past. It was statistically good a couple weeks ago cause we played NAU, Nev, Col..... We played real offenses (Cal and Oregon) and got rolled up. Cal was deceiving due to the turnovers but thats part of the game

I haven't watched SC much this year (I caught the Ark and UofA games) but they are not overrated. They have almost an entirely new team on both sides of the ball and VERY FEW people throughout America gave them a chance to go undefeated. People can say SC's overrated all they want after their performance last Sat but those people are making a big mistake. First of all, Washington is better team then people give them credit for and every team has a tough game or two every season, whether its against shitty teams or not. The most impressive thing about SC is that they can almost always turn it on and close out a game when they need it the most. It's called good coaching and quality excecution.

Overall, our offense is horrible, our defense is bad, and our coaching is disgusting. Pete Carrol will have a field day over an ASU team that has thrown the season in the trash can. SC struggled last week and will come out focused and get ASU down 21-0 nothin before the 1st quarters over. It happens in every ASU game like this, look it up. To me this is the easiest game on the board, there is zero chance that ASU will be in this game at any point of the game. USC -19

WRONG WRONG WRONG. You obviously have not handicapped the game. All ASU can do is run the ball. Ask any ASU fan, Carpenter hasn't thrown the ball over 20 yds all season. We run the ball on 3rd and 10 for cripes sake. I'm getting sick and tired of people saying this, proves that people go off stereotypes as opposed to whats actually going on

My take on Carpenter is that he has had a couple of bad games and has made some bad decisions trying to win games himself. Last year they were just happy he could get the ball there, this year they expect him to have 5 tds a game. And who does he have to throw too? No Hagan this year(even though last year he was a liability in this game)

The bye week was the best thing that could happen to ASU. Koetter is an awsome offensive mind, and knows how to coach QB's. Just look at the #'s on any of them last year, including carpenter. Your giving a guy who is regarded by media and coaches as one of th best off minds in college football and who knows his job iis on the line 2 weeks to prepare for a banged up inexperienced SC team that has already been exposed in many aspects of the game. AND your giving them 19 points along with it.

blg-

Carpenter has turned into the Chuck Knoblauch of college football...I think he is mentally out of it.

I wouldnt want to bet on him coming back and showing the Rudy Carpenter of 2005. As you said he doesn't have the receivers of last year, nor the confidence...and his best OLineman.

And throwing for 33 yards is more than a few bad decisions. A monkey can throw for 33 yards in that offense...especially since Cal put up OVER 40 points on that same team that held Rudy to 33 yards (Oregon).

Oh, and that little known fact/joke that ASU couldn't stop Utah States offense. They get no pressure on the QB, their LB's are slow and their DB's (minus Tryon) are awful.

One more thing- The game is in California where Dirk couldn't win if he was coaching the Chargers against USC.

The only thing I worry about is Richardson and punt returning. He is ASU's best chance of scoring.

Can you imagine the diatribe of bullshit this board would have to endure if this situation was reversed & USC got CHEATED out of that time??? :com:

But being as things are this goes down as A-OK in his book, then he tries to justifing by throwing in the made up NC game stuff, to make it ok in his brain that Texas beat his Trojans. :142smilie

It is obvious the PAC 10 is a corrupt conference, first OU gets cheated, then this cause they cant have USC lose, that would hurt the conference.

This is a perfect example of why I hate this poster.

Wouldn't Washington winning this game help the conference.

Considering USC being 3-0 against the other major conferences. Jeesh!

:nono:

Absolutely not. If USC loses there goes the chance at the NC. What could be more valuable to the conference than that??

How the hell does a UW win over USC benefit the PAC-10??? Its not like UW will be fighting for a BCS at large bid.
