A Pineapple Under the Sea
I am terribly sorry but I heard some really bad news on one of your prized LB recruits:

Drean Rucker. Heard that he drowned. My sympathies go out to all of the USC family. I heard he was a great kid and we were also recruiting him hard. God Bless you all.

Yeah its real tragedy and thanks for offering your condolences. It is also nice to see many college fans from teams across the country come and offer their condolences on the USC Football message boards.

I remember speaking to Dreans Dad at a practice few months ago and he was telling me how excited his son was to become a Trojan and was working hard. Everything i heard he was a great kid on and off the field. He was rated #1 Linebacker in CA.

They are still looking for his body, and its really sad to see his Dad standing there on the shorelines crying and looking/waiting for his son. He was not a strong swimmer and he was swimming at night with a friend and no lifegaurds on duty. He got caught in a rip tide the friend said and went under. Real sad day and i pray for the Rucker family.

Damn, Scott. Too bad. Have never heard of the guy, but it makes you think. Here today, gone tomorrow.

One thing I love about college football is that these guys play with heart. I will never forget Colorado's inspired play after Sal Aunese passed away, or Washington's heartfelt play after C.Williams was paralyzed.

To me, college football and NHL playoffs are the best sports, b/c so much of it is heart and who wants it more.

Best wishes, Scott.
