Wow, I didn't realize Mike Patrick announced every Indiana game back then. And I thought he was doing ACC basketball for Jefferson Pilot in 1985! Ahhh, those were the days.....

the pizza parlor scenes with the players, digger actually in the movie --- didn't like.

i had higher expectations, i guess.

After all that hype, I think it was a major disappointment. THey go thru all kinds of details during the season, then don't even showing them getting their a$$es kicked by 14th seeded Cleveland State. But then again, I don't expect much from the Extra Stupid Propaganda Network.

As far as I know, Hollywood has no intentions of making any sports movies in the near future

The one that I wish they would remake is "The Hustler"

Down here in S Fla there is a talkshow host named Hank Goldberg. Hank mentioned on the air that Hollywood has contacted him about information concerning an old friend of his named
"Jimmy The Greek" to start on a script, but don't hold your breath.

The morning line under/over on the next sports movie is 4 years away. . . .

I watched the ESPN movie for the first hour, then switched to the 9/11 documentary.

Dennehey did a nice job, I thought. Basketball scenes were laughabley bad -- very B-movie-like (why can't they recreate sports sports action in movies -- it's horrific to watch, no matter what sport. I mean, how godamn difficult is it to get 2,000 kids, fill one side of the stands, film scenes just as they are shown with TV cameras and generally re-create the feel of a REAL game?)

If you think this is bad, wait til you see the next film they are doing -- CONFESSIONS OF A CAMPUS BOOKIE. The movie is to be shown in late March and was actually based on a book (I've playd with the author in a poker tournament -- very talented writer) called CONFESSIONS OF AN IVY LEAGUE BOOKIE. Watch and see how they make gamblers look in this film. Based on the previews I've seen, we are going to be portrayed as something along the lines of serial killers and child molesters.

Just wait and see.......

Try "The Life: The Story of The Blue Devils"


That was the best gosh darn movie on sports I have seen in a long time, it was a documentary that took place this year over the course of a week, it was about an hour and a half long showed the prospective of players, their parents, Coach K, individual fans, and a janitor working in Cameron Indoor. Great movie, don't know if any of you have seen it but I would buy it if I had the opportunity too.

I think that ESPN made this movie to see how many times the word phuck could be used on a sunday nite movie. Really freaking terrible. No depth to the characters etc. etc. etc. I wish I would have watched the 1st hour of 9-11 before wasting an hour of my life on the 1st hour of that other cinematic turd.

I agree with most of you that it was a disappointment, mostly because of all the hype that went on. I never read the book, but perhaps some insight into the administrative side of the basketball program/Athletic Dept. would have made it more insightful. Don't know the budget of this movie, but portions of it did come off as being low-grade.

All that cursing was WAY overdone. Sensationalized the whole Bobby Knight myth to the point where he's remembered mostly for his behavior. I do give credit to ESPN, however, for giving both sides in the post-movie special hosted by Bob Ley. Thought that was even better than the movie.

The "Confessions of a Campus Bookie" movie is going to be on one of the FOX channels. The promos suggest that it will be way over the top--"the money...the girls..."

Perhaps the Duke special should be retitled "The Life: How to Get Passing Grades as Sociology Majors While Playing for the Duke Blue Devils".

What a waste of everyones time.

This show had the potential to be one of televisions finest efforts and a bullet point to be proud of in the ESPN entertainment resume. This rendition of one of college sports most widely known personalities is a colossal letdown to both those who were there as well as those who only had a casual interest in the subject matter.

I can only imagine this shoot must have been one of the most trying periods of Brian Dennehy's career.

It's painful to imagine an actor of his caliber coming to work with the intention of depicting a life to the best of his ability and being provided such shoddy assistance in the form of a juvenile class shooting script, unimaginative direction, and an executive producer who's only good hiring decision was paying for Dennehy to be on hand in the first place.

It was simply dreadful television, and should ESPN ever use this production team again, they would do television viewers a service by admitting the fact that the new show is being brought to us by the same team of nit wits that brought us "Season on the Brink"

For the production team, I can only hope that this project becomes "Careers on the Brink."

I found the book fascinating because it gave us all the sides that make up Mr. Knight. The movie was bad. I think that Feinstein (author) bailed out on it. Too bad - because the book is an interesting story and actually shows some positive things about Mr. Knight to go with all the negative.

I want to thank ESPN for sending mean email on Saturday, letting me know that the movie was going to be on Sunday night. I had no idea that they made a movie about Bobby Knight!

A piece of trash. The book was actually "insightful", something the movie never had any intention of being. The basketball scenes were just a notch above "The Whte Shadow."

ESPN should be ashamed with putting that on the air.

well i tuned in for about 20 minutes and thought i was watching scarface with all the f bombs being drooped. from what i seen it was terrible period. all hype and no delivery. the book blows the movie away no comparison. i am totally anti knight but i will give him some credit, i don't think what he has done is all that bad. it's always funny how all the negative things about him are always replayed over and over but never will you see any of what he really and truly meant to i.u. while he was there.

As a graduate of Indiana University, all I am embarrased that my alma mater's main identity is that of Bob Knight's actions.
I don't know what upset me more......the selection committee's lunacy earlier in the evening, or that "Lifetime Movie of the Week."

LOL....did anyone notice that the basketball game scenes looked animated? I thought I was watching a PlayStation game or that movie "Annaconda"

The movie was over hyped and pathetic as well. As Cartman would say "ESPN pisses me off". Dennehy is a decent actor but no one can play Knight. Thankfully, I taped this piece of crap and watched 9/11. As I watched it today, I couldn't wait till it was over and was wondering why the hell I kept watching. The documentary type pieces I've seen on Knight in the past were much better. Also, the book was much better and insightful.
