Turn off the lights, close the fridge door cuz the Lakeshow is done! I know people out there are going to continue thinking this team can just sanp its fingers and make a run, but I don't think it's happening --- this was the game for it to happen, and they choked it away.

The problems are simple: Everybody not named Kobe or Shaq just sucks. Horry and Fox have suddenly become terrible after being excellent role players for the past few years, they have no young athletic players who can guard guys worth a damn, and there is no intensity.

Now, they must go 39-19 just to make the playoffs! No way.

At least we'll get to see some fresh blood in the playoffs this year. Sac vs. Dallas should be awesome.

gotta love seeing PJ and Kobe melt away ... I love how people never want to blame kobe at all, tonight he shot 7-24, he is not in the top 55 players in NBA in shooting % ... blame whomever you want but Kobe aint getting it done either--period!

I blame kobe for tonights lose, he's the biggest ball hog in the league, you see him in the 4th just dribbling into people and not doing shit. The teams don't even have to guard him, he just dribbles himself into trouble, and he expects the refs to bail him out when he gets into traffic.

I agree with both of you on Kobe but the role players have really declined, too. Horry and Fox are terrible and they way overrated the potential of George.

But can you imagine if the win the lotto and land Lebron:eek:

Couldn't agree more about Kobe. This guy wants to do it all by himself every night. Yes, he often makes remarkable shots, but time after time this year he has literally taken the Lakers out of the game with his refusal to pass the ball. Though not the case tonite, I have seen him repeatedly go to the hole for gimme lay ups in final seconds when a three point shot is necessary. Every year excuses are made because of his tender age. As long as the Lakers ended up as champs, people let his selfishness go. Interesting to see what will develop this year as the Lakers fall out of contention. Shaq has been quiet about this so far. Maybe not for long.

Kurt Rambis

Kurt Rambis

Heard an interview of Asst Coach Rambis on Peter Brown show this morning. He basically made it sound like the players have no life in em, in their eyes he said. Said they act, look, feel and play like they're old and tired. Said they can't production from Shaq until someone else steps up and starts shooting to unclog the paint. Stated Shaq could probably be in better shape, but is as healthy as he is going to be. Says Shaw and Horry are playing way too many minutes and are plain tired and beat up. Says George is just plain not playing well. Says Horry is really beat up and physical players are abusing him. Says Kobe was finally playing well for three quarters last night and then started taking bad shots again in the fourth. Stated it may be panic time and time to find some young blood. Basically their role players are not cutting it. Was very complimentary of SAC and all their talent. He said they know they're in trouble when Turkoglu plays 6 min and he can shoot ligts out.

Just an interesting interview. I am a hater, always have been. So i am lovin this.

That last sentence about Turkoglu is what irks me. Since the Kings picked up Jim Jackson, Hedo is the guy playing less minutes. Albeit, Jackson has played well, but don't we all know what we get with Jim Jackson? Hedo is 22-23 years old and played unbelievable last year. I'm a huge Kings fan but worry when I see JJ taking Hedos minutes. When the Kings lost B2B to SA @ home & @ Phx, Hedo never got in the flow. For those who are not familiar with Hedo, he is a player. I heard he got in Adelman's doghouse a little but can't understand his diminishing minutes at all. Had to chime in when I see Rambis making comments about him.

Not to mention Gerald Wallace. He is AMAZING. Can't wait till J Jackson slows down a little and these young guys get their PT back.

My take on the Lakers is that they never could just turn it on. The first year they won the championship they were focussed from day 1, maintaining a high level of play throughout the season, but did tend to show signs of complacency at key moments in the playoffs as they hadn't learned what it takes to win a championship at that point. They eventually did get the job done albeit a little ref aided and they built on that in future years. Year 2 they came in to the season very complacent and were not playing much better than they are now(only they had a healthy Shaq from day 1). I recall that season as they went through period of struggle prior to the return of D Fisher(who missed the entire season up until that point in late March of April) the odds on them to win the champioship jumped to 6-1. Derek Fisher came back, this team went on an unbelievable run that started in early April that kept building and building(they did not turn if on overnight) and D. Fisher played at a level he never did prior or since. They dominated through the playoffs as their role players were players were all feeling it and that was the most impressive Laker team for that short stint from April until the championship. Last season the Lakers were sort of on cruise control, not really complacent, not really focussed, by the playoffs Sacramento had caught up to them ability wise and if not for some serious choking by every King other than Bibby, not to mention that flukish 3 pointer by Horry the Kings should have been Champions last year. They clearly showed throughout the series they were the better team.

We are now at a point where 2 teams (Dallas and Sacramento are on par with the Lakers(even when the Lakers are on top of their game-which they are obviously not). Only the Lakers of the playoffs 2 seasons ago were clearly better than the these two teams right now. Now the problem for the Lakers is drive, they just do not have the will to win that they have had in the past and Age, very few acquistition have just left this team full of ageing role players. More importantly, Shaq is not even close to being Shaq. Sure he can still dominate with his strength, but his range is currently gone, his lift is currently gone and he isn't even close to being the player he can be. The Laker role players feed off of Shaq and Kobe. When Shaq and Kobe have it going, suddenly Fisher and Fox start hitting wide open shots, when they do not you see clanks. Are Lakers done, I highly doubt it. Actually, I was very impressed with the Lakers for 2 1/2 quarters yesterday and I think it is an effort they can build upon. Lakers big problem this season has been showing up. But for the first 2 1/2 quarters yesterday they were playing with a lot of step in their game and played better than I have seen them play all season other than the 4th quarter of the Dallas game. Do not forget they lost to a "loaded" Sacramento team who hasn't stopped thinking about the Lakers since being eliminated. Can the Lakers turn it on and become the team they were 2 seasons ago, not a chance, can they turn it on and become the team they were last season, I would say so. Will they? Remains to be seen. Has a lot to do with desire and how much they want to or feel a need to.
