In a match-up of struggling pitchers we'll go with the Over tonight as the Seattle Mariners and Cleveland Indians play the rubber match of their three game series.

The Mariners have won six of their last eight and are 69-44 (.611) overall this season. They have split the first two games of this series and will be desperate for a win tonight to maintain their three game lead over the Athletics in the AL West. Seattle have scored almost 7 runs per game through their last eight games and should be able to continue the hot hitting tonight against a rookie.

Seattle start struggling right-hander Freddy Garcia (9-11, 5.57 ERA) tonight. The 27 year-old is 0-5 over his last seven starts and in his last outing was shelled by the White Sox, allowing seven runs on seven hits in just 1 2/3 innings. Unfortunately for him that continues a terrible run as in his last six outings he has allowed 35 earned runs through just 28 1/3 innings. The pressure is on him to put in a quality start tonight or be banished to the bullpen.

The Indians are 14 1/2 games behind the Royals in the AL Central and have lost six of their last seven. They are just 46-67 (.407) overall this season having lost 16 of their last 21.

Young leftie Billy Traber (5-6, 4.71) heads to the hill tonight for the Indians. He lasted just two innings in his last outing having been pounded for six earned runs by the Rangers. Traber is 0-1 with a 5.06 ERA in two appearances including one start this season against the Mariners. He will need his best stuff tonight as Seattle are a dominating 24-10 this season against southpaw starters.

These teams are averaging 10.6 runs per game in their meetings in Cleveland the last three seasons and we're expecting double-digit scoring again tonight.

traber has been the epitome of inconsistency his last 6 starts.

6/27....home vs. cincy.....7 IP......5 H......0 R.......1 BB..... 5 K
7/2......away vs. kc.........2.2 IP...11 H....7 R........3 BB......3 K
7/8......home vs. yanks...9 IP......1 H......0 R .......0 BB.....5 K
7/13....home vs. chi........6 IP......8 H......4 R........3 BB.....6 K
7/26....home vs. twins...6.1 IP...6 H.......1 R........0 BB.....6 K
8/1.....away vs. texas.....2 IP.....5 H.......6 R........2 BB.....2 K

you look at the runs allowed column his last 6 starts and he has had dominant starts followed by poor outings three straight times. who knows which traber will show tonight. it is worth noting though that he has been excellent at home this year. the times when he has gotten rocked have been away from jacobs field. he's a jamie moyer clone, so we'll see if he learned anything by watching moyer dominate the tribe with 75 mph changeups 2 nights ago. traber can be that good, or he can get lit up. gl with your play. its not like garcia is setting the world on fire anyways.
