First game today - let's hit it.

What is better than a playoff football game in Lambeau Field - not much in my opinion. The tradition, Brett Favre, Cheeseheads, and the freezing temperatures - I love it.

Seattle has a putrid road record of 2-6 and one of those wins were against the Arizona Cardinals (no offense to Cardinal fans). They have lost to caliber teams on the road like Minnesota, St. Louis and even the Packers. Greenbay on the other hand is 5-3 at home and lights out in the playoffs at home.

Seattle is averaging almost 230 yards through the air and Greenbay is going to give up chunks up yard because they give up almost the same. Seattle will stuff the Packers run game today in my opinion. Ahman Green is a great back and he'll have his runs but nothing spectacular.

I believe this Greenbay team is emotionally spent. The horrible news of Favre's father (R.I.P) passing away took a toll on Favre and his team. Then the emotional way they got into the playoffs by the miracle in Arizona on a fourth down play (I felt horrible for all Viking backers that day - but we won't talk about that). Holmgren will have his team ready and I cannot see them getting beat my double digits. They might even sqeak out a victory.

My Pick: Seattle +7.5

Good luck on your plays.
Your thoughts and opinions are always appreciated.

What makes you think they're emotionally spent, I've seen nothing that would suggest that. Seattle was just as lucky to get in the playoffs as Green Bay was.

I think your on the wrong side (IMO), but good luck to you.

Your correct in saying not much is better than playoff football at Lambeau............

I understand where you are coming from and unfortunetely I can't "prove" that this team is emotionally spent. It's my personal opinion that the last two weeks have been very emotional for this team.

Packers adrenalin will be pumping playing at home but I see Shaun Alexander having a solid day and seahawks possibly coming out with a victory. Holmgren is a great coach and will have his team ready today on the road.

Good luck with your Packers bet today. And like I told Neckbone, if the packers cover the 7.5 - I hope it's your biggest wager ever.

My Thoughts

My Thoughts

I don't see GB as being emotionally spent, I have heard this a few times and just not buying it. Also, Favre is the type that plays better under stress. My book has the line at 8 now and although I haven't bet yet, its damn hard to pass up the hawks +8. On the other hand I do see Greene having a good game and minus interceptions its rare Favre doesn't play well. I think this is an accurate line. However, my early lean is the hawks plus the pts. gl all!

Not my biggest play, but a decent size one, I just think after last years playoff loss they will come out fireing on all cylinders........

I really think they wanted and now will get Philly if they win this week......

Emotions will be high for both teams, and will be a good game..........................

Just for the record

Just for the record

My pick of Seahawks plus the points is not based solely on my opinion of the Packers being emotionally spent. I don't think anyone should bet a team on that aspect alone. I do believe Shaun Alexander will have a solid day and that the seahawks will be able to move the ball through the air as well. I would bet the seahawks in this situation even if the packers didn't go through the events that they did the last two weeks. In my opinion, I do not see this team getting beat by double digits. I hope the line goes to 8 - even better.

Good luck with your bets.

FYI

FYI

Via Senor Capper's thread...

This is what Hammerin Hank (ESPN) had to say about this game:

"Speaking of a long time between drinks, Seattle hasn't won a playoff game since 1984. Their 2-6 road record speaks for itself, almost. At home, they have turned the ball over nine times, while on the road the number is 20. I love Green Bay right now. Ahman Green has more than 1,800 yards rushing. Brett Favre has 32 touchdown passes. The Pack was 4-0 straight up and against the spread in December."

I respect Hammerin Hanks thought but will be going against him today.

I like to take points in the playoffs when they are over a touchdown, but in this game, i just can't do it. GB is playing great ball right now, and after handling Seattle earlier in the season, i see no reason it should not happen again. That road record of Seattle speaks for itself. If this game were in Seattle, I would consider taking the Seahawks, not because they are a better team, but because the Packers struggle on turf, and in domes. This is no different, Seattle struggles on grass outside, and are not as good of a team as GB.
Good Luck ANKANK, one of us is going to be a winner.

Glad to hear your thoughts A1capper. And like you said, atleast one of us will be a winner. It's too bad that we are on different sides because this past week we were on the same thought process and have profited. Good luck with your bet and have fun watching the game!

A key move the Packers made back in early November was when they picked up DT Grady Jackson. That defense has improved tremendously since then. It is no coincidence that the Packers went 6-2 since he joined the team. I think they can control Seattles offense, while putting up enough points to cover the touchdown. Only thing that worries me a little is Ahman Green has a tendancy to fumble. As long as he holds onto the ball and doesn't give Seattle any cheap scores, they should be all right.

"When it's third and ten, you can take the milk drinkers and I'll take the whiskey drinkers every time."

-- Max McGee (Green Bay Packers --1967)

LOL - that's sweet.

I think it might come down to the Packers Rush defense who only allows 106 yards a game versus Shaun Alexander who averages 125 yards. I'm a big fan of Favre but my money is with Alexander and the Seahawks. IF Shaun can run and keep Favre off the field, I like the Seahawks to cover (and maybe even win).

Good luck with your plays.

Ummm....they tore down that dome, and there is no turf out there anymore either....

Well, for the record, all I took was the Over. I'm not a believer that cold weather causes Unders. Wind maybe, yes, but not cold unless it is unbearably cold and passing becomes almost impossible.

I do think GB wins the game but don't like laying those pts. Just hoping for about 24-27 1st half pts, at which point I may hedge and go for a totals middle.

GL all.
