I went to SEMA In LV with my brother-in-law who works for Autozone.
"SEMA...SEMA Show takes place October 30 - November 2, 2012 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
About
The SEMA Show is the premier automotive specialty products trade event in the world. It draws the industry?s brightest minds and hottest products to one place, the Las Vegas Convention Center. In addition, the SEMA Show provides attendees with educational seminars, product demonstrations, special events, networking opportunities and more.
SEMA Show 2011 drew more than 60,000 domestic and international buyers. The displays are segmented into 12 sections, and a New Products Showcase featured nearly 1,500 newly introduced parts, tools and components. In addition, the SEMA Show provides attendees with educational seminars, product demonstrations, special events, networking opportunities and more?
Note: The SEMA Show is a trade-only event and not open to the general public."
IMAGINE walking thru hundreds of acres of aftermarket anything car related, electronics, tools, tires, nuts and bolts, headers, intakes, computers, stereos, even complete shells for a "new" 1969 Camaro ...old classics thru modern proto-types that will probably never see the road.
As well as the niche manufacturers, the big guns, Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Honda Toyota even Hyundai had neat exhibits.
In the back area they had a devoted track area to get a test ride in a ZL Corvette or Camaro...free all out balls to the wall.
Chevy offers to buyers of Corvettes, a complete "build the engine for your car" option, complete with tech support at the factory. Talk about way cool...
If you are a car guy and get a chance, GO!! (wear comfy shoes and don't go first day)
Bacchanal Buffet Caesars, opened Sept...
Imagine NO steam trays, very high quality food prepared in small batches by skilled chefs, and 500 items to choose from.
We went Wed morning about 10:30 AM (they charge breakfast price, 21.95 till 11 am) Lunch 28.95, dinner 34.95 Weekend brunch 41.99, dinner 44.99 (includes unlimited champagne)
Players card gets you a small discount.
I like sampling Breakfast, then gorging when lunch transitions out.
Fresh squeezed breakfast juices were OJ, Carrot, Cucumber, Tomato.
As the lunch shrimp + cocktail sauce was out, I started there.
These were monster shrimp, not typical as Bellagio.
At 11 am, everyone hustled the breakfast away and out came the goodies.
I decided to just graze and strategically sample, there were simply too many items to just grab and fill up on a plate of Ribs and miss out on the opportunity to enjoy new flavors.
There is a carving station piled high with protein, obligatory Oriental area, Italian, Seafood only, Mexican, Salad area, Breads area, Cheese Bar, and Dessert Bar.
Everything is prepared in small batches and replaced quickly with fresh. I love crab cakes, their crab croquettes were 100% crab, NO filler, they came 2 to a personal basket...
I had big "samples" of the following: Lobster fried rice, Lobster Corn Chowder, Shrimp ceviche, Cioppino, Shrimp + grits, more Crab croquettes with
Remoulade sauce, Halibut in Lime sauce, and a slice of WONDERFUL just out of the brick oven, 4 cheese pizza...
I quit here to save room for dessert...we just sat near the Dessert bar for 40 minutes watching the well dressed females reaching for Italian sorbet.
Dessert Bar had Crepes to Creme Brulees and everything between.
I am a sucker for Buttery Pecan Bars..they had em, that plus 2 Milk Chocolate Creme Brulees...a tall glass of ice cold milk and a Baklava Sorbet topped me off.
Anymore and I would have been carted off in a food coma.
In summation, they claim 500+ items, I believe them....I just touched the surface...Dinner includes Rib Eye, crab legs (to me a waste of a good crab) and many more exotics.
I would not claim this to be " Top Fussy Gourmet Quality"
but easily consistently VERY-VERY good quality from station to station.
Well worth a visit.
MUCH MUCH better than the Bellagio which 6-7 years ago was my standard for an excellent $22 buffet.
Bellagio now has greatly cheapened the experience and kept the price high.
