Sens/'Canes - Gameday

YTD 10-6-0

Lalime and Weekes are the starting goalies tonight. Sens defeated the 'Canes last month 4-1 in Ott.
Weekes is 0-5-2 lifetime against the Sens. Sens have won 3 in a row while the 'Canes have been red hot losing only 2 of their last 10 and both of those were in OT. So the 'Canes have a recorded at least a point in their last 10 games.

INJURIES: Bonk returns for the Sens tonight and Jody Hull is the only injured Sens player. Alfie is in the line-up but is nursing the flu.

OUTLOOK: Spezza stays in the line-up but will be on the 4th line with Van Allen and Neil. The under is a strong play for me tonight. Weekes has a 1.75 GAA in 16 games this year. Meanwhile Lalime has had the 'Canes number posting a 6-3-1 record and a 1.39 GAA in those games. Both teams are carbon copies of each other. I look for a 2-1 or 3-1 game. Leaning to the Sens as well but will most likely just play the total on this one.

Playing:

Ott./Car. u5(-110)

GLTA!

Frogy,

Wow! Great question. It is not nearly as common as it might be in College Sports due in large part that the College athletes don't really make any money. Now with pro sports you would think the millions of dollars they make is enough and that they would not want to screw anything they have going for them. I would hope that the athletes don't but you never know. It is quite hard to throw a game with so many players involved and if you are a 3rd or 4th line guy you are not getting that much ice time. Now if you are the goalie well then you have a large say in the outcome. Like any other sport it would not surprise me if someone has done it or at least tried to throw a game at some point. With so many games in a season a player could say if he had a bad game that it is tough getting up for an 82 game schedule the same way emotionally night in night out. Now it would not surprise me if a ref had a little money wagered on the outcome of a game. These guys don't make much money so a little extra money would not hurt them. It is one of those topics that can have so many angles to talk about it when it comes to gambling. Just my 2 cents.

Yes, Players Definately wager, but not on there own games, nor the sport they are in. Now im not saying im 100% sure they dont, but there is too much risk and at stake to do it. I know for a fact some of the big names that gamble on sports, and they do it heavily. They have their own bookies, the guys im talking about anyway. Not sure about if he bets on sports, but i know Jagr is probably the biggest gambler in the nhl if not sports. When on road trips, on the days off he has a private jet sent to him from the casinos in vegas that flys him there and back, at there expense. They also give him approx 100 K to start with on them if he plays at there casino.

I knew you where the guys to ask the question to.

The only think i'm having a hard time is for a sport player who likes to put money into action not to put it into is own action. I know the risk but i just have a hard time figuring this out.

Very interesting topic that opens doors to many other topics.
We could go on but i guess this would then belong in the general forum.

tx to the both of you for the replies.
