BEGINNING MONDAY, AUGUST 18

St. Louis at Miami (3) 18th, 19th, 20th

The Marlins got back into the win column yesterday at Fenway Park and they remain one of the top money-makers in baseball this season (+$1730). They have top young pitchers Eury Perez (+$310, 3.58 ERA) and Edward Cabrera (+$350, 3.34) set to take the mound against St. Louis. The fading Cardinals, who just gave up 24 runs in a three game sweep by the Yankees over the weekend, are only 15-28 vs. right-handers on the road (-$1265). The series sets up nicely for the home team. BEST BET: E. Perez/E. Cabrera.

Milwaukee at Chic. Cubs (5) 18th (DH), 19th, 20th, 21st

The Brewers had their 14 game winning streak snapped by the Reds yesterday, but they come into Wrigley Field with an eight game lead in the NL Central (78-45,+$3245 overall, tops in MLB). They have the 2nd best team ERA in the National League (3.59) but all five scheduled starters are right-handed. The Cubs, who are 54-35 vs. righties (+$1165, 5.4 runs per game), can close the gap in the division considerably with a strong showing. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this intriguing match-up. BEST BET: None.

L.A. Dodgers at Colorado (4) 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st

The Dodgers managed to sweep the Padres at Chavez Ravine over the weekend, re-taking 1st place in the competitive NL West. They’ve swept all six games with the hapless Rockies in 2025 (+$600) and they’ll look to fatten up some more vs. the weakest team in baseball. Colorado has the worst pitching in MLB (5.99 team ERA) and they average a pitiful 3.8 runs per game at the plate. Prices will be prohibitive, but we’ll go with Clayton Kershaw (+$225, 3.01 ERA). The Rockies are only 5-29 vs. left-handers in 2025 (-$2000). BEST BET: Left-handers vs. the Rockies.

San Francisco at San Diego (4) 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st

The Padres are licking their wounds after getting swept in LA. Nevertheless, they remain a top contender for a playoff berth, and they’ve proven they can handle the slumping Giants (7-2, +$640 in head to head play). They have a stellar record here at Petco Park (38-20, +$1010) and they own the best team ERA in the NL (3.57). San Francisco is only 12-21 vs. left-handers in 2025 (-$1460, 3.4 runs per game), and will face SD’s newly acquired southpaws Nestor Cortes & JP Sears. BEST BET: Left-handers vs. the Giants.

Houston at Detroit (3) 18th, 19th, 20th

The Tigers are back on track after a mini-slump (7-3, +$260 last 10 days) but the 1st place Astros are not a team to be taken lightly. Houston has its two best pitchers slated to take turns at Comerica as they fight to hold off the surging Mariners in the AL West. Hunter Brown has led the Astros to victories in 16 of his 24 starts (+$500, 2.45 ERA). He’ll take on ace lefty Tarik Skubal, who has not looked sharp in his last two appearances (5.40 ERA). He’ll catch a generous underdog price, even though Houston is 7-3 vs. lefties on the road (+$370). BEST BET: H. Brown vs. Skubal.

Baltimore at Boston (2) 18th, 19th

The Orioles have the 3rd worst pitching in the AL (4.69 team ERA) and they come into this series with a 9-19 record vs. right-handers in night games on the road (-$925), averaging just 2.0 runs per game in those contests. Boston has dominated the competition here at Fenway Park (41-23, +$930) and they are still within striking distance of 1st place in the AL East. They appear poised to sweep this two game set. BEST BET: Right-handers vs. the Orioles.

Texas at Kansas City (4) 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st

The two best pitching staffs in the AL squaring off at Kaufman Stadium. The Royals swept this team at Arlington in their first meeting (3-0, +$335) and they’ve been looking sharp in recent days (7-3, +$325 last 10 days). Texas has fallen on hard times (2-8, -$735 last 10 days) and they are only 10-22 vs. left-handers so far (-$1205, 3.7 runs per game). Noah Cameron (2.47 ERA in 17 starts) looks like an obvious choice for KC. BEST BET: Cameron.

Toronto at Pittsburgh (3) 18th, 19th, 20th

The Blue Jays’ explosive offense (.768 OPS) has put them five games up in the AL East (73-52, +$2185) and they’ve been very effective in inter-league play (+$1290). The last place Bucs have floundered vs. AL clubs (11-25, -$1420), but we’re not entirely comfortable going against them. They’ve been a consistent money-maker at PNC Park (+$705) and they have three capable starters set to take the mound. We’ll hold off for now. BEST BET: None.

Seattle at Philadelphia (3) 18th, 19th, 20th

The Phillies find themselves scheduled to use a left-handed starter in each game of this inter-league affair. Unfortunately, the Mariners, who are locked in a tight battle for the top slot in the AL West, have been at their best vs. southpaws (20-12, +$975). Luis Castillo has been Seattle’s most consistent performer, leading the team to victories in 8 of his 11 road starts (+$565). He’ll take the mound in Wednesday’s finale. BEST BET: L. Castillo vs. left-handers.

Chicago W. Sox at Atlanta (3) 18th, 19th, 20th

2025 has been a disaster for the Braves, now 15 games back in the NL East. But they have picked up the pace in recent days (9-2, +$895 in their last 11) and they draw a soft opponent here. The ChiSox have dropped 8 of their last 10 (-$510) and they’re only 12-36 in road games vs. right-handers (-$1515). With a trio of righties set to take the mound for the home team, Chicago will be lucky to salvage a win. BEST BET: Right-handers vs. the White Sox.

Cincinnati at L.A. Angels (3) 18th, 19th, 20th

The 65-60 Reds are within striking distance of a post-season berth, but the Angels are poised to be a spoiler. They’ve been a losing proposition night games vs. right-handers (-$315) and they are facing an LA club that has racked up a fortune in night game vs. right-handers (+$2105). All these are scheduled night games, so play the series accordingly. BEST BET: Angels when righty meets righty.

Cleveland at Arizona (3) 18th, 19th, 20th

The Guardians are now 8.5 games back in the AL Central after are unlikely to overtake the Tigers after three straight losses at Target Field. However, they are in the thick of the wildcard hunt and they have been an excellent money-maker outside of Progressive Field (+$965). The Diamondbacks were just humiliated by the Rockies at Coors Field in a three game sweep, adding to their massive losses in 2025 (-$1790). BEST BET: Guardians in all games.
