***BEST BET
Rhode Island* over Xavier by 14
NCAA Selection Committee to 20-win Rhode Island: ?Beat somebody.? Rams to
Selection Committee: ?We hear you?, Xavier is ranked #14 and we?ve had this home
game circled for a long time. We will enjoy shooting from the perimeter over 5?8?
Drew Lavender, and we will enjoy daring him to dribble penetrate because he can?t get
close enough to the hoop to finish effectively against us, and their wing players with
nice percentages won?t hit consistently enough against our experienced defenders after
he kicks it out to them.? RHODE ISLAND, 81-67.

***BEST BET
San Diego* over Gonzaga by 8
You don?t spend 14 seasons in Gonzaga?s locker room and huddles without learning a
little something about their strengths, weaknesses, strategies and how you might attack
and counter them if you were coaching somewhere else. San Diego first-season head
coach Bill Grier took his new team back into his old house last month, but they didn?t
hit enough shots early in the first half to keep the dogs at bay. An 0-12 deficit there
is killer. However, the Toreros did enough things right to hang in there and edge their
way back into the game in the second half when they could have folded instead.
They?ve already beaten St. Mary?s in this building, at their own down-tempo pace.
With those confidence-builders under their belt, plus guard Johnson and forward
Pomare as two of the best players in the conference on their home floor, a nationally
televised court-storming is brewing. SAN DIEGO, 72-64.

CBB TKO Blowout of the Week! *4-0 Weekend Sweep!*

I'm laying the points with the Hoyas on Monday. The normally defensively sound Hoyas looked anything but that in their Saturday loss at Syracuse. They looked a step behind on the defensive end and paid for it with two players fouling out, leading to a huge disadvantage at the charity stripe. It's a Georgetown team that leads the nation in FG percentage allowed, and they hold the opposition to UNDER 20 made FGs per game. They'll be at their most intense following the poor performance. The Hoyas are a perfect 3-0 SU after a loss this season, winning by an average of 16 PPG! And, they'll face a Providence squad that's on a 1-7 SU slide. In their seven losses surrounding a win over Depaul, the Friars are giving up a hefty 77.6 PPG! Look for Georgetown to bounce back with a double-digit win on Monday afternoon (4pm ET start).

Georgetown (-5) at PROVIDENCE

A loser on Notre Dame yesterday as they win but fail to cover the number against Rutgers.

Take Georgetown as the road chalk this afternoon over Providence.

Georgetown certainly hasn't been playing all that well recently. The Hoyas have lost two of their last three and have failed to cover their last five against the line.

But I think Saturday's loss at Syracuse is the wake up call this team needed heading into today's matchup with Providence.

The Friars could be in for a long game today, as they don't have the defense capable of slowing Georgetown's deliberate attack. Providence has given up 80 and 82 points in its last two games, both losses, to Louisville and Pitt.

Look for Georgetown to establish the inside game early with Roy Hibbert and to frustrate the Friars with their lock-down defense on the other end.

Take Georgetown minus the points as they grab the road win and cover.

Xavier (-2') at RHODE ISLAND

A very strange matchup indeed, and I think the oddsmakers are begging you to play the underdog in this one, hoping everyone falls for the trap on Rhode Island. The thing is, while the Rams seem to be okay for an at-large bid, and no doubt would lock it up by scoring a 3-0 sweep this week, I believe the Musketeers would love nothing more than to worsen Rhode Island?s potential seeding ? while enhancing their own ? with a win this Atlantic 10 clash. The oddsmakers may be the enemy, but they?re not that far off when the lines are this tight.

The Musketeers, who are 9-1 in conference play, outscore their opponents by an average margin of 15 points, and clearly have the better defense - allowing 62.7 points per game, versus Rhode Island?s 71.8. The road team holds the 7-3 ATS edge in this series, and with the Rams losing two of its last three ? albeit all three were on the highway ? I believe the bookies got it right with the chalk here, and will lay it against the trap. Play Xavier, and expect a five-point win to be the difference.

LaSalle (+13) at ST. JOSEPH'S

The SGH brings a 105-83-4 comp play record into Monday night's action.

Tonight we go to Hawk Hill, and take the points with the LaSalle Explorers in their city-series battle with St. Joseph's.

The Hawks demolished the Explorers the last time these schools met, 72-50 last February to make it 8 straight series wins, and 6 straight series covers. We believe tonight is the night LaSalle at least makes a dent in the against the spread run the Hawks are on, as the Explorers have gone a righteous 8-0-1 against the spread away from home this season, and they are 6-6 straight up away from their home hardwood.

LaSalle has proven to be "road warriors", as they are currently on a 26-10-2 spread run their last 38 against the spread on the road.

No doubt St. Joe's should grab the outright, but after being outclassed by 22 points in the last meeting, expect the Explorers to show some pride in this inner-city clash, and stay inside of the double digit impost.

Play on LaSalle.

Texas A&M (+4') at TEXAS

The G-Man is on a 24-16 comp play run my last 40 releases.

Tonight I will take the points and look for Texas A&M to give Texas all they can handle. I know Texas treated me to a 50 Dime winner on Saturday, but the way they closed that game has me a little leary of laying a couple of baskets tonight against a capable A&M edition, even in Austin.

The Aggies were stunned at home on Saturday by Oklahoma State, snapping a 5-game winning streak. Still, A&M has won and covered their last 3 on the conference road, and they are 20-8 overall their last 28 against the spread on the highway.

Texas enters riding a 5-game winning streak, and they have also won 8 of their last 9 straight up, but their uptick has this number a little inflated in the G-Man's mind.

Texas A&M drilled the Longhorns 80-63 at the end of January, and they have covered in 6 of the last 8 meetings.

Grab the points and roll with the Aggies!

Gonzaga at SAN DIEGO (+8)

We swept the weekend with three FREE winners on the college hardwood and we've got a fourth in a row tonight as we go with San Diego at home as the Torreros host Gonzaga.

Watch out for San Diego in this one. The Torreros have won seven straight games and this teams has risen up in the biggest games this season.

San Diego went to Kentucky and got the shocking outright win over the Wildcats early in the season. The Torreros went to Gonzaga on Jan. 19 and lost 80-70 but got the cash as 17 1/2-point underdogs. They welcomed a ranked St. Mary's team to San Diego on Jan. 28 and scored a 63-55 win as seven-point underdogs.

Just when this team is faced with a huge challenge, it rises to shock the favorite.

San Diego is 6-2 ATS in its last eight games, and on the home court they allow just 58.2 points a game and limit the opposition to 41 percent shooting. Look for a hard-fought game tonight in San Diego and a pumped up crowd trying to get the Torreros a win.

San Diego is getting way too many points tonight. We've got to put our money behind them. The Torreros get the cash in this one.

4♦ SAN DIEGO

Drew Gordon

Syracuse (+10') at LOUISVILLE

296-268-5 over my L569 Free Play releases!

While there's no question Louisvills is formidable at home, the Orange got exactly what they needed with an impressive home win over Georgetown in their last one, setting the stage for a close contest here tonight. Syracuse knows in order to get an invite, they need a road win here or at Notre Dame, plus a couple more home wins, but first things first tonight.

So how does the Orange do it? The same way they did it at Villanova, behind their 3 top players - Green, Flynn, and Harris. The Orange run a short rotation, and it'll fall mainly on those 3 players to get the job done. Flynn should do especially well, since the Cardinals strength is their frontcourt, and they'll rotate 4 guards in an attempt to fatigue the go-fast Flynn in this one.

While there's some worry about the Orange matching up with the Cardinals size, they have enough with Green, Harris, and Onuaku (plus a couple more bodies just in case) to compete in this one. Based on the match ups alone, I just don't see the margin being extended to double digits in this contest.

Finally, the Cardinals come into this game having won 5 in a row SUATS, and now find themselves overvalued in my eyes. Yes, they're 12-2 SU at home, but just 5-7 ATS there, mainly because of spreads exactly like the one on this game, going just 2-7 ATS this season as a double-digit home favorite. Look guys, Syracuse is coming off a nice confidence-building win over the Hoyas, and while they may lose SU here, they sure as hell will keep it closer than Vegas wants you to believe!

Take Syracuse plus the points over Louisville in this Big East showdown.

2♦ SYRACUSE

Joel Tyson

Syracuse (+10) at LOUISVILLE

As I have said time and time again, I am not a big fan of taking teams in what some of you like to call let down situations. Today I will not change in my ways of thinking as I will take the points and back this Syracuse Orange team as they head in to do battle with the Louisville Cardinals.

Fresh off their big win over the weekend against Georgetown, many believe this would be a prime spot for the Orange to have a let down. Myself, I believe this is a prime spot however for Syracuse to battle to the end and even possibly escape with upset win number two in a row.

I feel after a team wins a game as big as the Georgetown win was for Syracuse that they ride so much momentum and confidence into their next match up, feeling they can play with and beat anyone. Today this is the kind of attitude I expect this Syracuse team to display.

The Orange know now also after their weekend win, another good game played or another win even tonight against a caliber of team that Louisville is could play large in the tournament selections.

Play Syracuse to stay within.

(501)Georgetown
(502) Providence

Take "Under" Providence?s offense has cooled off, averaging 66 points the last three games. It doesn?t help a struggling offense to face this monster Georgetown defense, one allowing 57 points per game and just 36% shooting. The Hoyas are tuning up their defense for tournament play, on a 7-1 run under the total. For the season Georgetown is 15-6 under the total, and they are 9-2 under on the road. Tonight's huge release is FREE at 1-888-389-7223!... "The Welsh watch is on at Providence. The Friars have had injury problems, but their inability to win big games continues to be a big problem and the buzz is getting stronger that there will be a shakeup at season's end. PC seems discouraged right now and with Georgetown off a loss, the Friars appear up against it tonight.

NCAA Basketball:

5 Unit Black Magic Atlantic-10 GOTY on Rhode Island +2.5

Rhode Island gets their chance to put their name on the map tonight. Despite their 20-5 record with 4 returning starters this season, Rhode Island continues to get no respect nationally. Xavier is a very good team that gets much respect, but they may be playing this game without their floor general and leader in point-guard Drew Lavender. Lavender injured his ankle in a 2-point win over Charlotte in Xavier's last game. Lavender went scoreless in that game and was 0-5 from the field. Even if he plays, he won't be effective enough for this Xavier team to pull off a big road win at Rhode Island. Rhode Island is a perfect 11-0 in home games this season, winning by 17 points per game. All 5 of their starters can score in double figures which makes this team a tough out for any opponent. Xavier is 1-9 ATS after 6 or more consecutive wins over the last 3 seasons. Xavier has had several close wins lately, but they won't be escaping Rhode Island with another A-10 win tonight. Cash in with Rhode Island as the underdog.

3 Unit Sharp Play on Austin Peay +1

Austin Peay will continue to beat up on Tennessee State just as they have over the years. Austin Peay has won 9 out of their last 10 meetings with Tennessee State, yet they find themselves the dog in this match-up. We will gladly cash in on this line mistake set by oddsmakers tonight. Austin Peay has won 5 straight and 8 of their last 10 games to increase their record to 18-9 on the season. Austin Peay is 14-3 in conference play, while Tennessee State has a losing record within the conference. Tennessee State is 0-8 ATS in home games after playing 2 consecutive games as a home favorite since 1997. Tennessee State is 0-8 ATS after 1 or more consecutive wins this season. This is a great spot for Austin Peay. Cash in with Austin Peay as the underdog.

Ben Burns' #1 NHL Conference G.O.W. (60-34 L94)
Ben Burns had a winning day overall but lost with Buffalo yesterday, falling to 60-34 his L94 NHL plays. Today, this Documented Champion starts a new winning streak with his Conference Game of the Week. Go get it!

I'm playing on the LA KINGS. The Coyotes, who defeated the Kings at Phoenix on Friday, have a much better record for the season. However, the Kings have actually earned more victories over the past five or six weeks. In fact, LA has won 10 of its last 17 games, including four of the last five at home, while Phoenix has won only eight of its past 17. That includes a 1-4 mark the last five times that the Coyotes played on the road. Despite picking up a couple of wins lately, note that the Coyotes remain an ugly 8-17 their last 25 games played in the month of February and 42-72 (-42.4) over the past decade. In addition to playing with "revenge" from Friday's loss, the Kings should be highly motivated to earn their first victory in the season series. Indeed, if not for losing every game against Phoenix, the Kings might still have a shot at the playoffs. Although they have played as well over the past several weeks as they have at anytime in recent memory, the Kings are priced much more reasonably than they usually are when they've been a host in this series. They were laying -165 and -175 for this season's two earlier meetings here and they've been favored by a minimum of -120 in 19 of the past 20 series meetings here. Note that although they were beaten in both games here this season, the Kings still remain a healthy 12-4 with four ties the last 20 times they hosted the Coyotes. Look for an inspired effort from the revenge-minded Kings as they do some damage to their division rivals and improve to 38-32 the last 70 times they played a home game with an over/under line of six or greater. *Western Conference GOW:00hour :hitit: :iagree:

Big Monday Total of the Month
I'm playing on Syracuse and Louisville to finish UNDER the number. These teams are both coming off back to back high-scoring games. That has helped keep tonight's over/under line generously high and I feel that we're now getting excellent value with the UNDER. Despite the relatively high final score of 77-70, looking at Syracuse's last game and we find that the Orange actually played well defensively, as they held the Hoyas to just 41.8 percent shooting. Note that the Orange have seen the UNDER go a profitable 19-9 the past few seasons when coming off a win vs. a Big East team in their previous game. Looking back further and we find the UNDER at 63-34 the last 97 times that the Orange played a game (with a total) after coming off a victory over a conference opponent. During that time, they've also seen the UNDER go 47-26 when listed as underdogs, including a perfect 5-0 when listed as road underdogs in the +9.5 to +12 range. As mentioned, Louisville also comes off back to back high-scoring games. However, both those games came on the road. In their most recent home game, the Cardinals help Georgetown to just 51 points in a game that stayed below the total by double-digits. In their previous game here, they limited Rutgers to just 50. Prior to that, they held St. John's to 57, Marquette to 51, West Virginia to 54 and Cincinnati to 58. For the season, they are allowing just 55.9 points per game on this floor while limiting opponents to a 36.8 shooting percentage. They've seen the UNDER go 12-7 the past few seasons when playing with one or less day's rest in between games and a profitable 15-4 after having scored 80 or more points in their previous game. They've also shown a longterm tendency to "slow things down" against high-scoring teams, as they've seen the UNDER go 37-19 the last 56 times (games with a total) they faced a team which scores 77 or more points per game. Look for another strong defensive performance by the Cardinals tonight and for the final combined score to fall below the number.

Big Monday ROUT

I'm taking the points with SAN DIEGO. The Toreros, who play with "revenge" from a loss (still covered) at Gonzaga last month, bring plenty of confidence and momentum into tonight's game. That's because they've gone a perfect 7-0 (5-2 ATS) since that 1/19 meeting. That includes a solid 8-point win over St. Mary's, a ranked team which has defeated Gonzaga. The Toreros held the Gaels to a mere 55 points in that game. That type of excellent defense has been their trademark as they've allowed an average of just 57.4 points per game since the beginning of conference play and 59.7 on this floor for the season. That's worth noting as the Bulldogs have really struggled against quality defensive teams. In fact, they're just 2-9 ATS their last 11 games against teams which allow 64 points or less and a money-burning 8-20 ATS the past three seasons. During that same stretch, the Toreros have gone a profitable 20-10 ATS when listed as underdogs and 9-5 ATS when attempting to avenge an earlier road loss. They're also 5-2 ATS the last seven times they were listed as home underdogs in the +6.5 to +9 range. These teams are both tied with St. Mary's in the loss column in the WCC, making this a huge game. Not that the Toreros need any added motivation. However, it's still worth noting that their coach Bill Grier has added incentive to beat Gonzaga, as he was an assistant coach there before being named San Diego's head coach prior to this season. Look for Grier's Toreros to continue their recent strong play, taking this game down to the wire and earning (at least) the cover.
