The combination of the low number (7.5) and Cedarstrom behind the plate (44 overs 22 unders last 2 seasons) make this a definite over play. I realize the ball doesn't carry in LA but these two starters are known to issue walks, and a tighter strike zone may only make the situation worse.

i thought the same thing...what's up with Gary?
97-99 he was middle of the road 50-49 to the over.

2000 he was 24-7 to the over and last year 20-15.

was 2000 just an abnormality? or is his strike zone getting
smaller?

i'd watch West in the NYY game. he hasn't umped since 99.
but 97-99 he was 56-32 to the over.

and cousins in tor/bos game....another over ump

Great point about Joe West. He wasn't umping last year when they made the push for the bigger strike zone; so a good chance his hasn't changed at all. At least not until he gets a letter/reprimand from MLB.

Usually benefits the over. Rain delays throw off the pitchers and often they are pulled after one delay. It also slows the speed of the outfielders so their range is limited. Throwing the ball also is tougher because its slippery.

FWIW, Fenway is 23-8 Under in rainy/cloudy conditions last year.

Personally, I think it's a craps-shoot.:)

Although I should specify that these stats don't differentiate heavy down pour or just light drizzle. Makes a big difference when the field is soaked from a down pour or just scattered drizzle.

Good luck.

I don't think you can lump "rainy" in with "cloudy". Two totally different weather conditions. I'd like to see numbers on cold & rainy; conditions no one figures to benefit by.

cooz -- it also depends upon the timing of the delay and how long it lasts. In this case it started before the pitchers even started warming up, which is better for the pitcher than a rain delay in the middle of the game where the pitcher has to sit in the dugout and his arm stiffens up.
