TOTALS PLAY: UNDER 39

Forget all the media trash talk that tonight's football game "is meaningless." Anytime there is $money$ on a game, it might as well be the Super Bowl. Paul Tagliabue can thank GAMBLERS, yes GAMBLERS, for keeping the Monday Night Football ratings sky high tonight, because we are the only people on the planet who will be watching this horrendous spectacle of a football game. Of course, we won't get a single word of thanks or even acknowledgement from the NFL or the network. Tagliabue has said he thinks gambling on the NFL is "a problem." What a freakin' moron. We pay his inflated salary. That bastard.

Now, to tonight's game. Let's get right to the point. SAN FRANCISCO does not give a flying rats ass about this game. Their main objective will be to stay healthy, or more precisely to GET healthy for next week's playoff game against a tough opponent. Look for most of the SFO starters to get limited playing time tonight, and lots of substitutions. Even with a healthy team going full stride, the 49ers have become a methodical team. San Francisco has failed to put up lots of points in recent weeks (just 17 against awful Phoenix last week!) and has no incentive to show their playbook or expose their playmakers to injury. Sure, several of the stars wil be on the field tonight. But I look for a team that will go through the motions and want to get out of town as qucikly as possible. Look for a lot of running tonight by the 49ers. Tick. Tick. Tick.

The Rams are a mystery. This team has been shut down the last three weeks and tonight starts a nobody at QB. Last Sunday, this team couldn't even put up points against a DREADFUL Seattle secondary. Nevertheless, St Louis will want to give a strong effort on MNF to close the regular season strong, but based on talent, this team is average -- at best. The Rams offenseive line has consistently broken down late in the season, which means the young QB will get pressure. The Rams are plagued with injuries, particularly at the skill positions, which make sme wonder how they will score many points.

These two teams have a reputation for BIG plays, which is now OUTDATED. Based on the starters and motivations for both teams, it's unlikely we will see lots of scoring. Las Vegas has put up a total which appears at least 2 points too high (in my estimation -- I'd have this game at 37). This game will play out much like a pre-season game, with lots of young talent getting some extra playing time. The 49ers, in particular, appear destined for a very LOW score this evening -- which will put lots of pressure on the young Rams QB to have a big game. I don't think that's going to happen, which is why I am recommending an UNDER on tonight's game.

Thanks to all -- have a great New Year celebration. We'll get 'em next year.

Hey Scott, you and I on the same side? Maybe we are on a roll hre.

I'll check the news today to see if the PLO and Israel signed a peace agreement, North Korea surrendered its nuclear weapons, and Saddam Hussien fled Iraq in exile.

Peace, Brother. :)

I believe this is a preseason game as you said. Only way it goes over is break down in special teams that leads to a easy score or two. Under. GL To All

not playing tonight's game, but just want to say loophole and I will be happy to accomadate Nolan's drink of choice or the dinner of his choice come Super Bowl Sunday.

We all agree to disagree from time to time, but there is no need for defamation of character on these forums.

Good luck to all!

I read this thread and liked/appreciated the info and insight. Glad I chose to make it a play on the first half under (mainly did it to avoid late scoring in a close game, and got a little more value). U can't cap some of the crap from the second half. Cheers, Nolan.
