On the course!
This is a question that should get some debate going!

I have long been a proponent of regulation time in an event being the determining factor in your wagers.

If you have the dog, you win if the game is tied. Whatever the score is at the end of regulation, that determines the total.

What do you guys feel?

Hi YYZ. I think OT should count, definately. It's the same players, on the same field, trying to win the game in an extra frame. Obviously someone who likes to bet unders does not like to see games go to overtime. It's the exact opposite for the over bettors, just look what happened in the Championship game last night.

Last year Sportselect PSL (Canada) changed thier rules for Hockey betting. I'm sure some people here are familiar with the ticket system they use where you pick a Visitor Win, Home Win, or a Tie for each game. They decided that all NHL Hockey games tied after regulation would be considered a tie, and payout only on the tie, even if a goal was scored in overtime. (Even in the PLAYOFFS!)

Now, let's say I had Montreal over Toronto as the last game on my ticket. The game goes to overtime, and Montreal scores to win it, but I still lose, even though I had Montreal.

Utterly ridiculous, a clear cash grab by the Government. However, the 'handle' went way down, and the complaints shot through the roof. Many PSL players were disgruntled and vowed to play less, or not at all.

This year, they reverted the rules to thier original form. Now, if a game is tied after 60, the tie pays out automatically. If your team scores in OT, they pay out on that also. Totals are also included in overtime.

Opinions on this may be different, depending on what sport we're talking about. For Professional Hockey, however, there can be no other way. Overtime should definately count!

BTW, there was nothing I hated more than losing on a ticket where my team WON. Talk about leaving a sour taste in your mouth! :)

My local stops everything at regulation. Needless to say he gets all my under action.

Tek,

I am not takling about a tie in hockey, though. Those are very frequent. The thing about NCAA football and hoops, is that they can go forever in overtime.

An under bettor in yesterday's game had it licked at 34 points on the final gun. (regulation) Yet 21 more points were scored in OT!

I know it will never change, but I like the debate.

Above the Clouds....
Former local had no OT, Guy I'm dealing with now has final score. It does make it a little easier when you look in the paper the next morning and you know finals count. Course had over in the Miami game so I say OT counts!:D
