Lakers have not cover the line at home in the 2002 playoff. Can they cover for the first time Friday night? Here's my theory. In the earlier rounds of the playoff, vegas padded the line on the Lakers home games to compensate for the betting public. The combination of the padded lines and the lack of Lakers' killer instinct led to a 0-5 ATS.
2002 Playoff
1st Round, G1: Lakers -9, they won 8
1st Round, G2: Lakers -7.5, they won by 7
2nd Round, G1: Lakers -7.5, they won by 6
2nd Round, G2: Lakers -6, they lost
2nd Round, G5: Lakers -6.5, they won by 6
After the the only loss @home to the Spurs, the Lakers came storming back with a ATS win in the following road game. Phil's team usually win the playoff game following a loss and that trend continued. Big Daddy looked to be healthy and played with a lot of enthusiam on Monday. I can see a monster game (40+ pts) from Big daddy by the time this series is over. Kobe was reported to be back in good health again. With all these good news for the Lakers, it's obvious that vegas has padded the line on them again...... or maybe not. The betting public seems to think it was padded because I haven't seen many betting the Lakers -6.5. Can this be a reverse psychology game?
Hmm...the line went from 6 to 6.5 despite the public betting on Sac.
