NY Giants please read this. Today the draft starts and espn and many other networks have their mock drafts . You can bet and make predictions in Vegas in who and where these players will be drafted. Newspapers all over the country have thier own contests . NY Giants have 2 top picks in the top 10 and as usual will select someone who is good but will be an avg NFL pro. Our hopes get high with so so many prospects that are not impact players at the next level . Our QB Jones who was drafted a few years ago is just average and Barkley the rb from Penn St has played in less then 50% of his games due to injuries. Is there a Larwence Taylor out there. Nope and if there is the Giants will bypass him. Our GM and scouting service are bad. Always have been but they sure wouldn't listen to an avid die hard fan.
Its 1970-71 I think. I am a sophomore at North Texas State and my sweet mates [ share the same bathroom in the dorm} are Glynn Hactchel and Joe Milton. The qb and MLB and captain of the North Texas Mean Green. Glynn had a twin brother who was a starting running back At SMU. The joke was that of the 2 brothers one had brains and went to SMU and the other Glynn went to North Texas . I personally don't like those kinda of jokes knocking my alma mater North Texas,
Anyway North Texas is playing West Texas St and Rocky Thompson is the No 1 rusher in the country. , Can't remember the score but North Texas won and after the game Glynn was talking about how " soft" Rocky was. He was quick but so easy to take down Think we held him to his lowest rushing yards. Then I'm reading the NY Daily News and NY Post in Texas and the Giants are considering him as theur top draft pick. I show Glynn the articles and he says " he is so over rated and so easy to take down" The NFL with its physical players will eat him up. So I am sophomore and write the NY Giants GM and tell him " please do not draft Rocky and tell them about my room mates scouting report . Well the NY Giants select Rocky Thompson in the 1st round. And everything that Glynn said was 100% right. He could run back kicks but was a total bust as a running back. Its the only time I ever wrote someone . I can't believe I actually wrote them. Glynn died of cancer about 10 years ago and our QB Joe Milton from Wolfe City Texas who was what you call today a redneck was busted about 15 years ago transporting 20 pounds of marijuana in south Texas. Not sure if he is still alive or still in jail.
Anyway the sleeper in the draft is Sincere McCormick the 5'8 half back from UTSA. Got to see him play 3 times in person and without a doubt is the best Rb in the state of Texas . I'm sure the rb's from the Mich St's.USC's and Ohio Sts are predicted way ahead of Sincere. He is 5'8 210 pounds . Was over looked in HS because he played qb / I have mentioned him before here. When UTSA played North Texas in the Alomodome I just got to my seat and reached down for the pop corn and looked up and heard the crowd roar. The 1st play of the game Sincere ran a 56 yard td up the middle untouched. Thinking I have seen this sleeping Unknown superstar the Quiz question on the Alomodome screen during a time out was " Who leads the nation in rushing yards in NCAA D-1 > Well the answer was ' Our UTSA roadrunner Sincere McCormick"
I am not writing The NY Giants . You didn't listen to me 40 years ago and Sincere will probably be a 2nd or 3rd round pick today . But that will be a mistake. And I;m sure Mel Kipper will say something positive about a team got a steal taking him . Hopefully it won't be a NFL east div team like Washington or Philly and just maybe the Giants shock me and take him . He is what you call a real sleeper
And UTSA's qb Camaron Ward who broke record after record passing yards did transfer from UTSA to Wash St. In 2 years he will be the No qb in the draft . He was over looked in HS because he ran the wishbone . Texas, Texas AM etc you have these guys in your backyard and you bypassed them.
So today where ever Sincere gets picked you heard it here 1st. This kid will be a superstar in the NFL .. and just maybe I hear the NFL announcer say " And the NY Giants select in the 2nd round with the number 35th pick Sincere McCormick from UTSA." Can someone wake me up if that happens because I will be sleeping"

Pound, wow that was Joe.. he passed away and he did play 2 years at Wharton before North Texas. Damn . Thanks for the update. He was a loose cannon always and was a huge red neck . Him and Wilmer Levels a DB drafted by the Clev Browns had a fist fight on the field, off the field and in the dorm. Wilmer was cut by the Browns and signed as a free agent for the Giants after he graduated. But he was cut by the Giants . Milton lost all 3 fights vs Wilmer and Joe had 2 black eyes. It was about a racial incident but don't remember the details.
Joe once trashed our room after he was drunk one night . Again a loose cannon but me and my roommate took his bed sofa one night and carried it down 8 floors and threw it in the dumpster. We went down the back staircase because people would of seen us in the elevator. When Joe saw his bed was missing we were suspects but he had so many enemies he couldn't pin it on us.
Crazy Joe .. may he rest in peace. thanks Pound for finding him in the obit.

Sincere McCormick was not drafted but signed as a free agent to Seattle..Think everyone missed on this kid because he will make the roster and everyone will be saying " where did he come from" He was Conf USA POY for 2 years ,scored 34 touchdowns just under 4,000 yds gained { 3,929} Maybe outside the Conf he isn't well known but he is a force and like he said at his press conference the other day " it hurts now ...but I have unfinished business to handle" .
Also the wire services have put out the top 10 qb's for the next college football season. Rattler at SC,Williams at USC,Nix at Oregon,Ewers at Texas ,Daniels at West Vir,etc
But they forgot Cameron Ward from Incarnate Word who transferred to Wash St. Only a junior but will break many of all Pac-10 passing records . Not one Texas Longhorn was drafted the entire draft. But next year Bjon Robinson will win the Heisman for Texas
