as is my usual pattern, i did ok the first round, then went right in the crapper for the rest of the tourney. i should have posted all my picks just to give you guys some good fades. anyways, i figure i gotta take a shot at getting back to a positive total for the tourney, so i present these picks as a public service announcement. feel free to fade away.
ucla (+1) 3 units. don't get me wrong, i don't think either team is very strong. after a great start to the season, florida was a .500 team down the stretch. ucla played in a weak conference. but what ucla is doing on defense is very impressive. here is their run through the tourney: belmont, alabama (who beat florida during the season), gonzaga, memphis, and lsu. to me, that is a MUCH more impressive run than south alabama, wisky milw, georgetown, a 'nova team playing their worst basketball of the year (thanks to allan "let me start each game by missing my first 20 shots, and that's in just the first 5 minutes" ray), and george mason. after their comeback win over gonzaga, ucla has to feel destiny is on their side. that extra bit of confidence will be enough to get them the win tonight.
under (128) 3 units. ucla is not the only team who's been clamping down on opponents. florida is doing a very solid job as well. plus, ucla's offense will usually help the other team's defense look good. points should be at a premium tonight.
