As a baseball junkie I love opening day....:00hour

few things I have learned, don't mess with mother nature....

its going to be cold around many of the ballparks today and rainy at a few (NY, Atl, KC)

the wind is blowing in at NY, SF and out at KC--nothing I have seen today will influence any of my plays, but worth checking out...

also looking at lineups is a must. The good thing about opening days is that they are always loaded....

and don't base opening day off of last years results...some teams change dramatically in the off season...

Here we go

Nationals +129
Over 8.5 +100

double header for me in the first game...Lowe is a low ball pitcher and that inspires some ground balls, I like the way some of the hitters match up in this spot and I won't say they are the better team, but the will be today..

Nats 7 Braves 4

another rule I follow, spring training is important....

streak is baseball, baseball is streak...KC has had a solid spring and I believe it translates...

KC +128

KC 5-2

and Reds Volquez struggled in the spring too
Milwaukee +104

Mile 6-2
also a fade on the champs with the right pitching matchup is always in play---

Dodgers -113

Enjoy opening day

You make a good statement on Lowe being a ground ball pitcher which favors Atlanta and the under...then you take the Nats and the over? Strange write up.

I will play the Braves here as they are a far superior team. Lean toward the over with you, but probably won't play it.

Good luck this season.

nope, I don't think it favors Atlanta when they face a low ball hitting team....

thinking the Braves are far superior team is a reach at best ...

I would be surprised if Lowe made it out of the 5th or 6th

Cant agree with you on Braves. I have a strong under on that one. Also I dont care a damn about spring training stats. I like Volquez today if only for the reason that everyone on the board here seems to like milwaukee. I did not play that one but just commenting. Good Luck

Robert I am with you on the fact that I don't like to be with the consensus but I don't mind if it's this board.

I do find it odd that you don't like the Brewers because everyone else does, but you do like the Braves who are in a similar situation.

Take a look at Werth and Zimmerman against Lowe. They are two low ball hitters who will torch Lowe today. Although I will get some serious grief for this one...the Nats may even be the better teams when the season is over and if Straus was healthy..it would be a no brainer.

Umpire Assignments

Checking out who will be calling these games today...

Tim Welke behind the plate for the Nats/ Braves

although he had an incredible under run once upon a time, he has been an over machine since hitting the over (or even) in four years straight.

Last year the Over was 21-13 and against the 8.5 he went 6-1....

In New York Dale Scott gets the nod--home team 19-16 last year and O/U 19/15

and finally in Cincy Brian Gorman is the chief behind the dish --home team 21-13 and O/U 17-16 a year ago.....
