uncg +5: the paladins of furman find themselves in a bit of a bad spot this afternoon with their matchup against the spartans moved up more than a day to 3 pm this afternoon because of the impending winter storm. furman is currently riding a two game scocon losing streak, including blowing a double digit halftime lead on wednesday night against perennial cellar dweller citadel. now they face a less than two day turnaround, playing uncg on campus in the old fleming gym, now renamed bodford arena after a recent renovation. paladins havent played in fleming (no, bodford) since 2007, so no current furman player has ever graced it floor. imo this puts the paladins at a tactical disadvantage and a bad scheduling spot and an afternoon start all at the same time. time to see if the spartans can seize this opportunity and knock off one of the socon big boys.

when i was sizing this game up one of the images that crossed through my mind was, with the impending winter storm, was the great student crowd that would be at the game, because of my memories of how the students would use the weather and class cancellation as an excuse to party and also to attend a basketball or football game on campus. never failed. that's one of the things i considered, thinking back on my college days in raleigh. so now i'm watching the game and there's hardly anybody there. funny how things change.

yes, things can turn around. unc g at a bit of a size disadvantage, but the shots should even out a bit.
