After fighting off the ugly football games yesterday...went 2-0 in college hoops..w/ St Louis rolling (as expected) and the ZAGS again being a solid play...
Michigan...-7'
In other years, I would not play this game because Michigan was so erratic, and such a tough bet...they were always athletic..but seemed to hardly ever play w/ any passion...now enter Tommy Amaker,w/ his presence and backround he has the ability to instill the types of ingrediants into the State of Michigan basketball (surplus of talent)that Izzo has done such a fine job of doing @MSU..I'm playing the "Wolverines" new identity here..combined w/ the fact that the only thing Western has done so far this year is win closely at home over Clay Tucker and Wisc._Milw (81-80)
Utah...-10'...I usually stay away from "in-state" rivalries..but I just can't pass this one up...Majaris is a "good ol' boy" in the coaching ranks...he and the Utes will get it done here..being @ home... just another bonus
Cal-Irvine...+4...I just can't seem to go against a team that did me so well last year..and haven't really lost that much off last years roster...this team really put together some fine wins last year..Illin St. loses potential conference POY...it will take them time to adjust ...this game is a "small" test as to whether or not we can all jump on the Anteater bandwagon (like last year) or not??...the only thing that bothers me is from where I come from there are Woverines,Badgers,N.Lions, and Bearcats
and now I'm playing Anteaters??...
Syracuse..-2'..take a gun and shoot me!..for years I could NOT make myself play either Denny Crum or Jim Boeheim...you never know what the hell their teams are going to do!..the ONLY thing that I have noticed is that Syracuse seems to run hot and cold..sooo...I'm thinking they're running hot...i'll put a small wager on this one..
but for the record...you cannot make a living playing the "Orangemen"~...
Indiana...-5...This game qualifies as a "conference" play for me..solid "Big Ten"
team, coach and program...vs a "middle-of-the-road" Conf. USA program...Marquette seems to be tough at home on a cold February night..it's cold in Alaska..but it ain't February..Go Hoosiers!
West Virginia...-5...not one of my stronger plays today...but...I like their talent..and S. Miss.is going to have to "win-me-over" before I play them ...small wager..
New Mexico...-9...why?...simply because I think Fran Francella is a good basketball coach, wants to get his team off to a good start(especially at home) ...LOBO homecourt
is one of toughest in all college hoops...Pacific won't handle the hostile crowd/environment...only concern here is that New Mexico doesn't lay 9 points very often...hope they can handle it??
Akron...-3'...well this again qualifies as one of my "conference" plays..I played Akron as a 3 point dog vs Iona..they won outright..
Akron does a superb job of running the motion
offense which makes them difficult to prepare for and defend...MAC teams historically seem to win games like this (Ball St. latest little run here will attest to somewhat of the quality of the MAC conference in general)...I just hope the ZIPS don't stay out on the beach too long getting sunburned and admiring the scenery!...
LSU---5'..here again this game falls into my "conference" play category..Last year the LSU program fought and battled hard thru the tough SEC w/ only 5 decent players..i'm figuring they have re-grouped a little this year...made themselves deeper (how could they not)and will basically "out-athelete" Weber St...small wager here in an attempt to test the water down on the bayou.
and last, but not least...NC St...-23
So far everything has been peachy-keen for the "Pack"...which in our world means they cover!..so another inferior opponent means...they cover!...remember your old days of "logic"?? If premise A, then premise B?
Hope it works here in this "nonlogical" world
of lines and "The Man"!!! On a more serious note,
I think Herb Sundeck is working his butt off to get the Pack back to respectability..some of you may not realize this but Sundeck hired former Ohio U coach (Larry Hunter) as his assistant after Larry was HOSED by the Ohio U administration....what i'm really trying to say is that w/ Sundeck and Hunter together NC St. will not get outcoached this year...they may get "out-talented" but they won't get out worked!..final score will be 87-48...fans continue to party all night as the Football team rolls on the Ohio University Bobcats..who are still stinging off last weeks loss to Marshall...it all adds up to a nice weekend , if you're a Wolfpack fan!
Good Luck to all....crib
