Local writers have the Cub's gm Hendry ready to get into a bidding war with the Halos for the center fielder, now that Ramirez is locked up here.

I just cant see them spending over 70 million on Soriano as well. They probably have the money, but happens when they need to re-up Zambrano and Prior.

They HAVE the $$ Gmarco. They ALWAYS have.

(whether or not they get Sorianno)

Your welcome Cub's fans. Your shit owners are spending money now because of a certain team on the South side.

For the 1st time in decades, the White Sox had the better tv ratings:142smilie

I know what you mean, but man, when there on they are good, and with the pitching nowadays, they are an upgrade over alot of staffs.

Are they both still hurt or are they coming back next season healthy....I know my phils would love to trade you Pat Burrell for one of those pitchers.

Cubs reach agreement on three-year deal with 2B DeRosa
November 14, 2006

CHICAGO (Ticker) - Mark DeRosa has parlayed his career year into big money.

The Chicago Cubs on Tuesday reached an agreement with DeRosa on a three-year deal.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but ESPN.com reported that the veteran utility man will receive $13 million. DeRosa, 31, enjoyed an outstanding 2006 season with the Texas Rangers, batting .296 with 13 home runs and 74 RBI - all career highs. The veteran also ripped 40 doubles and scored 78 runs in 136 games.

In his seven-plus seasons, DeRosa is a career .273 hitter with 38 homers and 193 RBI in 595 games with the Rangers and the Atlanta Braves.

DeRosa figures to start at second base for the Cubs, who have been busy this offseason. The team re-signed third baseman Aramis Ramirez and righthander Kerry Wood on Sunday, nearly one month after hiring manager Lou Piniella.
