RANKINGS: SDSU is ranked No. 4 in the FCS poll; Minnesota is receiving votes in the AP Top 25

ABOUT SDSU: The Jacks? bid for an eighth consecutive FCS playoff appearance and first national championship begins with them seeking their second win over an FBS opponent. SDSU played the Gophers in 2009, falling 16-13 in a game where no offensive touchdowns were scored and the Jacks were done in by four turnovers.

The 2019 Gophers are probably better than the 2009 version, but so are the Jacks.

SDSU enters with championship goals, as they return their entire front seven on defense and all of their top offensive skill players.

What they don?t return is a quarterback, as freshman J?Bore Gibbs will make his college football debut in a Big Ten stadium after SDSU spent four years being led by current Dallas Cowboy Taryn Christion.

While the Jacks absolutely believe they can win this game and intend to do so, getting a feel for their quarterback?s readiness to lead the offense is a pretty big secondary priority. If Gibbs plays well, the Gophers will likely have their hands full, and that?s a microcosm for the SDSU season.

SDSU has big questions in the secondary, too, where four new starters are tasked with helping contain an offense that has the potential to be explosive
. Josh Manchigiah and Michael Griffin appear sound at safety, but it?s anyone?s guess what things will look like at cornerback, where Don Gardner, Ti?Jaih Davis, DyShawn Gales and Diamond Evans make up the two-deep.
