A ligament tear in the foot of Austin Davis will end the Southern Miss quarterback's season, head coach Larry Fedora announced this afternoon.
The starter injured his foot in the fourth quarter of the Golden Eagles' loss to UAB.
Martevious Young replaced Davis, and will likely continue do so for the remainder of 2009.
"It really won't change what we try to do," Fedora said. "Martevious has been preparing every week. He has known he's just an ankle away from being the starting guy. He'll give up some experience, but he's prepared and he'll be ready to go."
Davis had thrown for nearly 1,200 yards and ten touchdowns before the injury.
