I'm watching the coverage now. The one analyst I heard seems to think the cockpit could have possibly broken free and they could then parachute down. Not sure if that is a very small chance or really possible. I sure hope it is.

I can remember being glued to the tv when the shuttles first started taking off. I would say most people take the shuttle program for granted now as there have been no problems for 17 years. Sad day if they all died.

Very Sad. I have seen both shuttles go down. Just makes the rest of the day seem not so important. I can still cry.

Was in Concord NH Jan 26 1986 with friends and family of Christa McCaulife when Challenger went up.

Whoever said they could live through this knows nothing about space travel. At 200,000 feet traveling Mach 6 @ 12,000 MPH they could not parachutte down from anything. If the cockpit broke free it would continue to travel at near this speed. God bless the men and women on board and god bless their families.

I also remember the other tragic mishaps that you guys are talking about. Does anyone remember when Gus Grissom & his crew died in a training exercise ?

God bless all the people who died in the space program.May they rest in peace.

ace is right did not want to say anything wanted people to have hope but i knew as soon as i saw live on nasa at 6:03 it was bad.

i have seen over 15 shuttle take offs from my house in new smyrna beach it rumbble the whole earth and at night it turns to day on about 42 miles away down the coast south of me it is a special site and when it lands people in cent fl can tell you how it shakes the town and how loud the double boom is. it is unreal to see it live and even more at night. but i also know what a sick feeling it is to see stuff all over the beach from a accident st.augustine daytona had tons of stuff on the beach very said and sick. never will forget it that day and today i feel sick again sports is no big deal. the debree from challenger was in good size pices food packets were all over the place and even big chunks of the shuttle were found on flagler beach but they would of had a better chance then this crew. at that speed they were over tx due to be at the cape in less then 5 mins so that shows you the speed unreal feb 86 and now feb 2003 i am sick i really am and what is weird there is debree in st.augustine county tx so you had st.augustine fl in 86 and 2003 st.augustine county tx. i have a plate from fl in my grauge of cloumbia and also a fl challenger plate. never thought the cloumbia plate would be like the challenger and feb and 2 st.augustines this is just weird to me probabley sounds stupid to some but if you were there you would know what i mean and then feb and 2 st.augustines just very weird and sad ,yes i also got a tear watching it . jeri said well can,t the eject and i just told her maybe but seen enough of them to know it was hot and on fire only seen that once and that was 86 always have fire on lift off but the smoke stream is what i was talikng about it is 1 line it puts out and when you see more then 1 going different directions you know its bad.

it could happen to any of us at any time just remmember that and enjoy life you never know and someone like me that tends to blow easy this brings me down to earth like i have problems hell i thank god i am alive everyday and work on anger management. but look how quick it could be over.

god bless the families and all of us this is why i don't want war i am so sick of death every where even in my family i know its part of life but i am really sick of death.

hope you all think about what i said we are lucky to be here right now could be gone in a sec and i tend to forget that.

god bless you all and sorry if the word god offends some it is not ment to. but he is my higher power maybe i should say may your higer power bless you not to offend anyone.
