Well here is the news and it aint pretty. I was away from home for the night, and arrived back in Akron at about 2PM. Shower shave and off to the Jar. Walk in and see Hollingsworth and Tarver sitting on the bench in street clothes. I go and find a guy I know who is in the loop in the AD's office. he tells me that after practice Friday (aprox. 6 pm) Hipsher is told that that there some "academic problems" involving both Hollingsworth and Tarver, and that neither would be able to play today. No press release. no news whatsoever until about an hour prior to tipoff.
End of information as I know it.
What makes me madder than hell is that I had called my local on the trip home,earler in the day and played the Zips rather large. Naturally, when I saw both guys not dressed I attempted to call in a huge play the other way. Guess what? No answer, I tried to call at least 20 times in about 15 minutes to no avail.,and no computer to log into Cris or pinnacle and I did not have their phone numbers with me.
I knew I was toast before the opening tip, and not a GODDAMN thing I could do about it. I was so pissed off that we left at halftime and headed for an early dinner.
Believe me, if I had been able to get near a computer in time we all would have killed on this game. Now all I have is a very bad taste in my mouth from a series of events that went horribly wrong.
