Sorry to hear about your tickets.

I went about five years (it seems) where I got one ticket a year. More than enough to keep my insurance sky high.

I haven't had a ticket now in about that long... 4 or 5 years. Not that I don't deserve one... Cause I tend to drive fast and look out for cops.

Often I just put my explorer on cruise control even in the city with a 40 MPH speed limit to keep me somewhere around the speed limit.

Surprise, AZ is one of those cities that makes it's annual budget by catching speeders. So I don't even try when I'm close to home.

Well..... I know how pissed you must be....

Settle down and drive slower

Good lluck to ya

1837 are radar detectors against the law way up there. I have has one many years. Get new model ever 3 or 4 years. That has saved my butt so many times. Even some times it just makes a noise that has nothing to do with police. But I look down and I see Im pressing my luck so I back off alittle. In the city it comes in to play more then out on I system. You get alittle more slack there. Not in the city.

Well there you have it. They should be legal.
They should be called safty devices. Those little noise they make. That would make you pay more attention and you would not speed.
I mean you dont use them to speed.

I've been regrouping. I think I musta run my butt into the ground trying to play all sorts of stuff every day of the week at all hours of the day and try to work as well. Was getting up at 3 or 5 some days to make my plays and it finally caught up with me.

I had the flu weekend before last and last weekend was trying to rebound from oral surgery.

My chiropractic practice has kicked into high gear and we are up about double what we were a month ago. Gotta make hay while the sun shines.....

So all of this chit isn't really very important to me right now. I gotta really keep my eye on the ball and take care of business.

Learned an important lesson while trying to make some baseball, australian football, rugby, golf and I don't know what else plays while I was sick. On top of being tired and feverish and half outa my mind I continued to try to play and made a NUMBER of really dumb mistakes! Kind of like doing this chit when you are drunk! I don't drink but geeeezzzzzzz. I managed to crash my account pretty bad.

Never again will I do this chit if I don't feel good. It's hard enough when you feel good and just plain stupid to play when you are sick!

Never again!

Best wishes to all my friends on here.

I will continue to follow along but am continuing to take a bit of time off. I've been working 7 days a week for the past month and that also is catching up with me.

I have a loose affiliation with 10 clinics in town who are personal injury/ worker's comp clinics... They don't do anything else but those kind of cases. They send me what they don't want!

The kicker is.... that even if I'm not in the office I have committed to make it to the office within one hour of a call. So I am often finding myself running my ass off on weekends.... racing to the office which is a thirty minute drive away.

Tomorrow is Sunday and I already have an appointment to see some guy at 1:00 PM...

Call it dedicated or call it stoopid. But for now it's a living! Yeah!

Later Ya'll

Thanks for the kind thoughts djv

Another reason why I need to at least cool it for awhile with all this stuff is...

With the practice kicking into high gear it takes much more energy to stay sharp and I've had some additional stress along with some cool things happen in the past couple of weeks. Wanting to savor the good moments and to reaccess some of the stress going on and see what I can do to contain it or better deal with it. This sports wagering stuff certainly doesn't help.

In the next week or so I will be marking my 20th year in practice. I graduated in 1981 and have been practicing since June of that year.

That little old lady that I told some of you about who came in telling me that I was her "last hope" is doing much better. She has rheumatoid arthritis, two artificial hips, an artificial knee, wrist and shoulder. She is 87 years old and says that she is the "bionic" woman! She is also extremely osteoporotic... very weak brittle bones. Which means that if I get too aggressive in trying to adjust her I will "break" her!

When she told me that I was her last hope she started crying during the initial consultation. I looked at her and smiled...reassuringly... thinking to myself... boy! are you screwed lady!

But remarkably she is doing 100 per cent bettter. She is standing straighter and walking faster. Smiling and very happy with me. She still walks with her walker but scoots it along instead of leaning all over it. Day before yesterday when she came to see me she said...."Dr., every DAY when I wake up I thank GOD that I met you"! Wow!

But along with the good you get the bad... I have another lady I've been treating who has taken a turn for the worse. Auto accident and I am scurrying around for answers. She may be loosing confidence in me although she says she likes me and considers me a "friend"...etc etc etc.

Have ordered an MRI for her and am awaiting results... and am hoping that I didn't miss something crucial in the initial x ray evaluation. That nagging concern that you may have screwed up...... YIKES!

But until I get the results back and really know in my heart that there is nothing that I overlooked there is that icy knot in the pit of my stomach... Much worse than a damned speeding ticket!

So.... until things settle down all this chit seems a bit irrelevant!

I am still enjoying learning about capping and sports in general. Having come from a total non-sports background the learning curve for me with all of this stuff has been HUGE.

Mostly what I am doing right now is following the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the French Open (tennis) and a little bit of the Memorial Golf tourney. And I don't have enough energy right now to keep up with auto racing and Anders picks in rugby which I would really like to do.

The way I look at it .. all this stuff or something very much like it will still be here after I have regrouped and recharged my batteries!

Good luck to all my friends here.

Bluegrass!
AZ...

At least you had enuff sense to recognize the problem. MANY do not and continue to make the same mistakes over and over and over. After ya regroup, try and start concentrating on only a couple of sports.

Az Rusty - sounds to me like you've got your head screwed on just fine
smile.gif

Neemer's right - I've been cutting back a bit too - still can't seem to make $ on the US stuff so just concentrating on the Down Under sports. Have more time to do so, 'cap better and am all the more relaxed and happier for it.

Hell, I even capped a round of NRL matches at the weekend that I didn't even have a cent on
eek.gif

Just happy to post my thoughts and try and help out if I can.

Hope all continues to go well for you; the cacti still look great on the deck

1837 - comiserations bud; it's that Villeneuve streak in you coming out again

Ease back on the throttle until next week's picks

Az, if this gets to be your busy time. Stepping back like the guys have said is good. Play one two items a week. Maybe just a couple Golf or Tenn, match ups. Get your pot ready for football. Not always the easiest to win at. But dam it is fun. And some very very good guys here on football. We can make some bucks.

I enjoyed a day off sort of .. inspite of having to make a run to the office to see a couple of patients around 1:00 PM Sunday. I treated one guy that had injured himself at work earlier in the week who I know and have treated before. The other guy was an emergency referral from the chain of clincs. He was in a bad way.. terrible low back pain and very crooked. Routine for me. I don't freak with that stuff. I consulted, examined and treated him and encouraged him to follow up with his regular chiropractor who was closed today.. I look at that as "pinch hitting" for the other doctor who is unavailable. And... I don't "bird dog" those patients.. I consider it to be very unprofessional to try to convert another doctor's patient to become a regular patient of mine. I just do the best I can and send them back where they belong! lol Yep.. I made a friend and was able to help him..... he was very grateful and happy with us. EASY MONEY!

Spent some quality time with my dog, Logan, a Shetland Sheepdog who thinks he's a German Shepherd this morning before it got too hot. By 9:00 AM it was pushing 95 so time to stay indoors.

After our run to the office (Kathy goes with me to play guard dog there)

I asked if she wanted to run across town to the Chinese Cultural Center to an all you can eat sushi buffet. We had never been there before but had heard that it was good. Ichiban..which means number one in Japanese. The food was great. I don't do double back flips over sushi or shashimi (raw fish) like Kathy does. I'll take prime rib or a steak and a baked potato any day over sushi... but I scored some major points with her.

The buffet was quite extensive. Kathy filled up on the red raw tuna that she loves (maguro) and I ate a little bit of all of it. I will admit that I totally grossed myself out with the raw sea urchin, the raw scallops, raw freshwater eel and the raw fish eggs that looked like they would be good to go trout fishing with! I didn't hurl but it was touch and go there for awhile! I most enjoyed the squid, the raw oysters, the shrimp tempura and the tuna.

For those of you who really have no clue what I am talking about. Shashimi is raw fish which is served as very fresh, cold fillets. Can be tuna, mackerel, salmon, yellowtail... just about anything. Sushi is cooked or raw fish which is served on top of a small ball or oblong-shaped clump of rice wrapped in seaweed.

As some of you may know Kathy is third generation Japanese. Really. Her grandparents moved to Phoenix around 1907. And settled here as farmers. Kathy is a black belt in judo. Judo, as you may know, is the art of breaking bones gently so we rarely have any really serious disagreements.

Kathy and I did have one major BIG argument some months ago about this internet sports wagering stuff. I refused to stop doing it but also told myself at the time that if I ever felt that this activity seriously or minimally interfered with my work that I would back off. Since there is at least a slight possibility that it may have distracted me I am backing off a bit for now.

It hasn't hurt my practice. In fact business is booming but that's all the more reason to pay attention to work for awhile and just turn the burner down a bit on this stuff.

Baseball has been really kicking my butt lately. I was doing pretty well for quite a few weeks running. But it can be so unpredictable and demoralizing doing that stuff day in day out and barely breaking even or losing.. that it's gotten to where it's really not that much fun for me.

I want to tell you guys that I have gotten the biggest kick out of following plays in golf, motor sports and those down under sports. And in general have been doing a lot better at those than baseball.

I have enjoyed reading Stanley's write-ups and making plays from the golf section following him, Dogs That Bark and some of the otehr posters.

I have also gotten the biggest kick out of following Anders' plays in rugby. Although I haven't really understood the game I have enjoyed reading your posts immensely, Anders.
The fact that I have been consistently been making money has also added to the enjoyment
smile.gif
Enjoy reading the analysis ..and like your style of writing. A real kick!

In Nascar and F-1... I have had fun reading 1837, Neemer, neverteaseit...(dont know where he went), djv and the rest.

And lastly I've also enjoyed following Anders, Cartman, AussiVamp2, and gloveski in Aussie football. I really don't have a clue about that game but have had fun trying to figure it out and have at least broken even tracking and making plays of my own.

Thanks to everyone!

I came across an small blurb the other day in Sports Illustrated or USA Today that stated that recent research indicates that sports wagering and gambling stimulates the same area of the brain that certain drugs such as cocaine or heroin does. If I can find it I will post it on the board. This hasn't affected me other than to make me think a bit.. related to the addictiveness of gambling ....and it's comparison to drugs such as cocaine???

One thing that I have realized is that at times when I have a lot of "action" going.. it does tend to be in the back of my mind until everything has settled... lost or paid on various bets. I have been doing this day in day out for months and usually have anywhere from 300 to 1000 on the line. I consider myself to be a small player...

I have noticed that people rarely mention amounts that they actually play on games. The only reason that I mention it here is that although I can afford what I am doing.. there is a bit of "stress" that can be added to my already stressful life at times that I probably don't really need! A few weeks ago in the middle of my busy day I realized that I had well over a thousand dollars in play on golf, aussie football, baseball, soccer...all sorts of stuff and I thought to myself at the time.. uh.. this is a bit excessive! I actually made about 150 dollars that day but am not sure that the stress was worth it.

I hear what you are saying about concentrating on just a few sports djv! Well... I've been CONCENTRATING on baseball and losing my ass and dabbling on all this other chit that I don't really understand and making money!!! Makes no damned sense at all!

Well.... my friends I've rambled on WAY too long. If I've made an ass out of myself.. it sure won't be the first time!

I'm glad that the cactus garden is doing well Anders. It was my way of saying thank you for the enjoyment that you have given me with your posts and friendship as well as a get well gesture.

All of the advice is well received and I will be talking to ya'll later.

Best of Luck to you all

AzRusty
