SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI over TCU. TCU is 10-0 SU this season but only 4-5-1 ATS. The Horned Frogs have been living on the edge winning five games by three points. Since 1993 TCU is 29-31 SU on the road. This team will encounter a real test against a solid defense. Expect the emotionally drained Horned Frogs to make costly unforced errors on offense throughout the game. Southern Mississippi has been rock solid at home since 1993 going 41-10 SU. Expect the Golden Eagles to be physically and emotionally prepared to battle the Horned Frogs . The winner of this game will be crowned champion of the Conference USA. In the game following the battle against Tulane Southern Mississippi is 6-0 SU/4-1 ATS since 1997. Other than the Nebraska game this team has allowed an average of only 7.25 ppg at home this season. Play on SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI.

Pittsburgh over CLEVELAND. Don't think for a moment that the Browns' woes are in the past. Last week's win over the barefoot Cardinals only bring value to our cause today. After five consecutive wins in this series, the Steelers were pounded on by the Brownies in the Ketchup Bottle earlier this year. They'll be bleeding red today as the STEELERS get their revenge in spades.

Purdue over INDIANA. The home team is 5-0 ATS in the Old Oaken Bucket battle. In LY?s game the Boilers got revenge for their only Bucket loss under Tiller by blasting the Hoosiers 34-10 as 22 pt HF?s. PU had huge 28-12 FD and 539-223 yd edges against an IU squad down to just 38 scholarship players. PU is 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS under Tiller outscoring Indy by a 220-94 count. IU is 5-14 SU and 4-15 ATS in home finales. Purdue has played 12 weeks in a row for the first time S/?94 while the Hoosiers had a bye 4 weeks ago which is helpful for a roster that?s still under the scholarship limit. The Boilers are off yet another tough loss to OSU and LY in that situation they only beat a struggling 4-6 MSU team 45-42 (-3). Indy is not smiling much after being crushed in Happy Valley and in Big 10 play they are being outgained 445-308 and outscored 36-13. Purdue has major ranking edges on offense (#28-99) and D (#10-95). TY when facing OSU?s #3 ranked D the Hoosiers could only muster 131 total yds while PU had 355. With Purdue off a loss they should romp over an overmatched rival. Play on the BOILERMAKERS.

MEMPHIS over Cincinnati. Memphis has come on strong lately and they are in line for a bowl game. The Tiger's offense is putting up big numbers and they are responding to respected defensive coordinator Joe Lee Dunn's schemes. The Tigers are now scoring off turnovers generated from their defense as well as with their offense. That means that Bearcat QB Guidugli will be pressured. Cincy's offense is too reliant on him. Tiger RB DeAngelo Williams leads the nation in all-purpose yards and ran for 154 in the impressive 37-7 road win at Louisville last week. This is a renvenge game for Memphis. Two teams moving in opposite directions.. Take the hot MEMPHIS TIGERS to blast the Bearcats.

UTEP over RICE. UTEP head coach Gary Nord predicted three straight victories in mid-season and his team came close going 2-1 SU with wins over Sam Houston State and SMU. However, those two opponents are now a combined 2-19 SU on the season. UTEP has gone 0-9 SU versus all other teams, and were thoroughly outplayed last Saturday by Boise State. The Broncos won 56-16 and rested their starters throughout the second half. UTEP trailed 38-7 at halftime and my mathematical re-scoring model had Boise State with a 56-16 overall edge in the game, which was very close to the 40 ? pointspread in the game. UTEP has gone with freshman QB Jordan Palmer the past few weeks and the youngster has struggled. Palmer completed just 14 of 28 passes for 172 yards last week and was replaced once again by QB Orlando Cruz. Palmer is the younger brother of Cincinnati Bengal QB Carson Palmer and does show potential for the future. However, Cruz gives the Miners more of a rushing option and the team is better when Orlando Cruz is in the lineup. UTEP has now lost five straight games. The lone bright spot last week was when junior RB Howard Jackson joined the 2,000-yard rushing club last week, despite totaling just 47 yards on 20 carries in the game.

Rice quarterback Kyle Herm was questionable after leaving the Tulsa loss with an injury two weeks ago. Herm returned this past Saturday and passed for a couple of touchdowns and ran for a third in leading the Rice Owls to a 41-20 victory over winless SMU. Herm completed just four passes on the day for the Owls, but managed to put up 157 yards through the air as a result. He also carried the ball eight times for 37 yards. The Owls opened the day scoring 17 unanswered points, beginning with an 82-yard touchdown pass from Herm to Ben Wiggins. WR Chris Cunningham pulled down seven balls for 64 yards for the Ponies, making him the school's all-time leader in receptions. Rice, which entered the contest fourth in the nation in rushing, finished with an even 300 yards on 61 attempts and also came away with 221 yards through the air on only six completed passes, better than tripling their 70.4 yards per game through the air which was the lowest average in Division 1A heading into the game.

Rice has now won two of their past three games, but their defense remains a major concern. The Owls allowed SMU to score 20 points for the first time in eleven games this season and have allowed at least 31 points or more in seven of their past nine games. Both teams will look to establish the run, therefore rush defense will be a key component in this game. Rice entered last week allowing 5.2 yards per rush (versus teams averaging just 4.5 ypr) while UTEP entered last week allowing just 4.2 ypr (versus a schedule of teams averaging 4.1 ypr overall). The Miners biggest weakness has been pass defense (8.7 yards per pass versus teams averaging 6.6 ypp), however Rice runs for over 80% of their total yards and will not be able to exploit this weakness. Play on UTEP.

MICHIGAN over Ohio State. During their 2002 and 2003 seasons, Ohio State has played seven games on opposition soil and despite going 6-1 straight up in those games, they've covered only one. Now the Buckeyes travel to Ann Arbor to face a team that can match up with them physically on both offense and defense. The Wolverines have been on a mission since their comeback victory at Minnesota. The home squad should dominate the line of scrimmage and exploit an overrated Ohio State pass defense. MICHIGAN in a blowout.
