Sportsbetting run in your Family?

My Grandfather was a boxing trainer and horseplayer in his spare time.


I never knew him, he died when I was very young. But we did get some of his horse betting info in mail for a few years after that.


I asked and he did just small and careful stakes, and lots of research on the ponies. Had stacks of old "Daily Racing Forum" and slide rule (this was 1930s thru 60s) and worked it out on paper every day.



So now that I spend time hadicapping, and visited mom at home, it doesn't bother her much. She grew up with it! How does your family/wife/girlfriend take it? Does it run in families?

My wife helps me sometimes.

Secretarial stuff.

I figure out what I need to know, relay the info, she records it and then I move on to the next game.

Saves a lot of time.

I have strict rules with money management. I've discussed them with my wife and put it into language she could understand.

She's reassurred and confident things will not get out of hand.

If I yell "Winner!"....

She'll say, "How many points did you cover by?"

Having a wife who's supportive is a tremendous help.

I was told that my grandfather (died before I was born) owned a coffee house in downtown Detroit booked horses & money from card games. When he died leaving my grandmother with 8 kids & virtually with no money except some transactions he recorded on small pieces of paper, everything else was in his head.
I married (now divorced) into a family of bad boys, my father-in law worked at the old Alladin in Vegas with some bad boys from Detroit. I could go on & on but it does run in the family gl
