this should make for some good stuff today:
If Omar Vizquel faces Jose Mesa today when the Indians play Philadelphia, he should be forewarned. Mesa has not forgiven or forgotten.
Mesa, the Phillies' closer, is still mad at Vizquel for saying in his autobiography "Omar! My Life On and Off the Field" that Mesa choked in Game 7 of the 1997 World Series, when he failed to protect a one-run lead in the ninth inning. Florida went on to win the World Series in the 11th inning.
"If he comes [today], I'll kill him," Mesa told the Bucks County Courier Times. "I won't try to hit him in the head, but I'll hit him. And if he charges me, I'll kill him."
Vizquel was scheduled to make the trip to Clearwater, Fla.
Mesa hit Vizquel in the back with a pitch last year during an interleague game at Jacobs Field after the book was printed. Major League Baseball fined Mesa $500.
Mesa told the Courier Times that he is not interested in an apology from Vizquel.
"If he comes to apologize, I will punch him right in the face," Mesa said.
When Mesa and Vizquel were teammates on the Indians, their lockers were right next to each other.
"Sometimes people are stupid, and that was a stupid, idiotic thing Vizquel wrote," Mesa said. "Anybody who watched Game 7 knows I was trying to do my job. I was giving 100 percent. Coming out of him, that hurt me because he knows how hard I work."
Mesa added: "If I face him 10 more times, I'll hit him 10 times. Every time."
also cannot wait to the regular season when Wells makes a strt in Toronto as I guess he tore on the fans in his upcoming book....
