St. Bonaventure point guard Jaylen Adams on Thursday had surgery to repair an injured finger that had been bothering him for a while, a source told CBSSports.com early Friday.

Adams is now expected to miss the rest of the season.

A 6-foot freshman, Adams was averaging 10.0 points, 4.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals for the Bonnies, who are 6-5 in the Atlantic 10 with wins over VCU and Davidson. The Baltimore native has been named the A-10 Rookie of the Week multiple times this season. He's recorded 55 assists and just nine turnovers in St. Bonaventure's past eight games.

The Bonnies play at Dayton on Saturday.
