Yesterday we reported that the Steelers would sign both Leftwich and another free agent quarterback, Daunte Culpepper. Although Culpepper was, like Leftwich, at the team?s training camp today, there was no word on a deal for Culpepper. As one of the NFL?s few players without an agent, Culpepper?s negotiations are always an adventure.
The Steelers have also signed free-agent punter Mitch Berger. To make room on the roster for Leftwich and Berger, Pittsburgh released first-year linebacker Anthony Trucks and first-year wide receiver Gerran Walker.
