Its been 35 years since Texan legend Stevie Ray Vaughan died in a helicopter crash . The Austin newspapers had his memory article in todays newspaper on page 1 this morning. It bring me back to years ago when I was visiting Austin from NY before I retired down here. We were walking Lady Bird Lake and in the distance you could see this big statue over looking the lake and the river. I thought it was either Davey Crokett,Jim Bowie or Steven F Austin . It was a huge bronse statue with a full length coat, wide brimmed cowboy hat, and a gun in his hands. But when you got closer to the statue it was a long raincoat and the gun was a guitar. I thought how strange you would put a huge statue on the lake with a guy playing a guitar. Not knowing that Austin was the " music capital of the world. " I realize today why he is over looking Lady Bird Lake and a huge Tourist attraction. Although I knew a lot about music in the 60's and 70's didn't really know Stevie Ray Vaughan . From a far you can see his statue with his wide brimmed hat and rain coat . I saw his picture of the statue in todays newspaper and just thought of the 1st time I saw it.
Also the fog here in my head is getting thicker. I won big with Temple yesterday in football and informed my wife I would be driving to San Marcus today since I have tickets to the Texas St-Eastern New Mexico game . But the game was played last night with Tx St winning big. Damn, I did win playing the Bobcats but it's Sunday and I missed the game . Maybe I better check out that statue of Stevie It might be a rifle not a guitar..
