For much of this year, millions of people across the country have held their breath, hoping President Joe Biden would keep his campaign promise and waive some, or even all, of their student debt.

On Wednesday, Biden finally announced his plan. His administration will forgive $10,000 in federal loans for every borrower making under $125,000. For borrowers who took out Pell Grants, that number rises to $20,000 in forgiveness. And the administration will extend the student loan repayment pause one last time, through the end of this year.

Not sure I agree with the concept, but Biden is making good on another one of his campaign promises. Hopefully, this wins over some young voters and helps Dems in future races.

On the course!
I don't like it, but it's $200B less than the money we handed over to millionaires after the Wall Street bullshit.

Fun fact. I was today years old when I found out that the US, once upon a time, provided free university education in New York and California. But, of course, Reagan and his conservative ilk put an end to it due to the dangerous production of an educated proletariat. So here we are today. Cray cray. david ramsey on issue ... https://www.foxbusiness.com/lifestyle/dave-ramsey-reacts-bidens-student-loan-handout-political-ploy

My thoughts....no one can blame those who benefit .most would be elated and understandable .

my problem is... political factor are causing divided united states. you have those who faithful paid their debts and now have to pay (taxes) for those getting free ride. We are approaching the great divide between conservative and liberal America. In my opinion the only solution is implementing states rights/dividing america

Results will be... in a fair US folks who promote each sides political convictions ...will live with consequences of their choice.
Results... those who benefit from either side will migrate to states of their choice and occupy states that benefit their values/lifestyle.

Besafe,
DTB

I wouldn't call it a free ride, it's 10k for middle and lower class people. It'll end up right back into the economy, which is why I support giving back to them versus the rich. It doesn't address the real issue which is sky-rocketing tuition costs.

I did get quite a kick out of all the hypocrites that took the PPP loan forgiveness calling out how terrible this student loan forgiveness is for our country.

You can call it a political move, but you can't tell me the tax cuts for the rich isn't a political move to capture the investor class. If you divide America and make the states more self sufficient, the blue states would thrive and the red states would fail. The country is way more liberal than the way people vote. Just look at the polls on social issues. I have many friends that share my viewpoints on almost every social issue and they wouldn't vote for anyone but a Republican.
