3-0 this week will put SPTW back over 60% for the 4 years it's been running. Hey, it could happen.

SPTW is a contrarian thread for players of mechanical systems only. If you're such a handicapper, you know there's a moment each week when you see a list of all the teams your system wants to bet on. Typically, you agree with some and disagree with others, but every so often one comes up that seems so off the wall that you can't even consider playing it. That's the Stupid play we're tracking here. The SPTW theory is that these are the teams with the most value, and the 4-year record is just under 60% with over 250 plays. So if you've got such a team this week (and remember, it must be produced by a purely mechanical system, such that anyone applying the criteria gets the same plays), please post it below.

Games where both sides are picked will not be tallied. ** Please pass if your pick was not spit out by some strict mechanical system.** No parlays, no teasers, no college teams. Thanks for your contribution, and good luck.

Last Week: 1-1 50.0%
Year To Date: 32-25 56.1%
1998-2001: 155-105 59.6%

Have managed to hit 4 of these in a row. Here goes nothin:

Car(+7) sia
...Patriots fit the ol need fav situation. A 1-14 Carolina tm off 14 losses should not inspire the Patriots' A gm. Belicheck figures to be very conservative in this spot.

Pats fat here imo, given all their spread wins and their last gm, a key win over Miami. Carolina in bounceback/redemption mode.
