What have you heard about Gillispie taking over at Arkansas? Rumors are flying that he is there #1 target and was most likely already offered the job. Have you heard anything? you usually have some good info on stuff like this in the Big 12.

Arkansas coach Stan Heath was fired this afternoon after leading his team to consecutive 20-win seasons and a berth in the NCAA tournament this season, according to sources close to the Razorbacks program.

Heath was informed by Arkansas athletic director Frank Broyles just hours ago and will receive a setttlement in the vicinity of $1 million.

According to the same sources, Heath will likely be replaced by Texas A&M coach Billy Gillispie. One source even maintained that Gillispie has agreed in principle and could be introduced as soon as Tuesday.

Gillispie has led Texas A&M to a 70-26 record over the past three seasons. The Aggies reached the second round of the NCAA tournament last year and were eliminated in the Sweet 16 this season.

Arkansas finished 21-14 this past season and returns nearly everyone while the Aggies lose Acie Law IV and potentially big man Joseph Jones.

yeah Fox sports is the only media outlet reporting that though. I was looking for something more substantial. That place is a joke.

I am hearing conflicting info. AM Board is meeting Thursday to discuss a raise for BG. There are a couple of in the know Ags who tell me he is gone, and 3 who say he is staying and just getting leverage to make sure he gets what he wants.

A Hog I know that plays golf occasionally with Broyles says BG to Arky is a done deal and that they wouldnt have fired Heath without a replacement already set.

My gut says he stays at AM and extorts them for every penny he can...which humorously would also mean a payraise for Fran. But either way wouldnt surprise me.

Also, it seems if Donovan doesnt go to kentucky that Barnes may be the guy.

Yeah I have heard a lot of the same conflicting reports you have, some saying there is no way he is going and will sign the extension on Thursday and some saying its a done deal and has basically already accepted the Arkansas job. I guess we will find out soon enough. Thanks for the info and keep me posted if you hear anything else.

Jones is declaring for the draft, but isnt hiring an agent so he will most likely be back once they tell him he is not going first round.

Byrne and BG met tonight. Both told reporters "no comment" when they left (separately).

Sure would seem if he was staying something would have been said to stop the rumors.
